Democrats outright expect journalists to "be on their side" and feel "horrified" when they're pressed by journalists, a White House reporter says.
A "prominent White House reporter" made the remark while speaking anonymously to journalist Julia Ioffe for an article on the dramatic shift in coverage of the Trump and Biden administrations, notably the expectation from the latter of positive framing.
"Democrats in general have a much thinner skin," the reporter said. "This is not unique to Trump but Republicans never expect a fair shake, so if you cover them fairly, you can have a good working relationship with them. Democrats de facto expect you to be on their side and are horrified when you hold them to account as you would any other administration. It goes back to the Obama years. [Obama staffers would be] like, ‘Don’t you realize that being a woman is no longer a pre-existing condition?!’ And I would be like, ‘Yes, but I’m writing about why your website keeps crashing.’"
The press' far more friendly coverage of the Biden team has drawn criticism, with questions about his ice cream preferences, outright praise for Biden from reporters like PBS' Yamiche Alcindor, and gushing over Press Secretary Jen Psaki from figures like CNN's Brian Stelter and MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace standing in stark contrast to the belligerent style that marked the Trump era. This week, Psaki led the press corps in singing "Happy Birthday" to one of the reporters at a briefing.
New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi, who predicted last year that Washington journalists would not criticize Biden for fear of losing social status, was troubled by the business-as-usual approach reporters seem to be taking.

Well it looks like you are not alone. Above is an article about how 58% of the American public sees the press as enemies of the people. The question was not is the media biased? Left wing? Unfair to Republicans? It specifically asked if the media was an “enemy”.
My point is this story literally contains no information, other than about the internal mental states of the various naïfs who were its subject.
Long, long ago, there was a centerfold ad in Scientific American that made a real impression on me. On the left, there was a full-page photograph of a man frowning into the camera. On the right was the copy; the headline read "This man is not smiling."
The copy then explained how the headline contained no information. This because the textual headline contained zero information that wasn't already obvious from the image. As a young kid, I thought that was a very interesting concept, the first time such a thing was ever illustrated to me.
In this story, the reporters who give their observations about the way the Biden administration deals with the "press corps" (how they love their grandiose-sounding labels) tell us absolutely nothing we don't already know. Like the headline in the Scientific American ad, their words convey no information.
All the do is tell us about their interior mental states, which are boring, except if they contain some slight and unintended humor factor.
They are not journalists by any stretch of the imagination.
They are deep state propagandists who receive instruction daily and carry out their orders. That’s it. They get their cut of the corruption. Their only ideology is greed.
The slimier the better.
And that’s why they’re confronted with thin skinned Rat party officials: they’re supposed to be doing their job, transcribing daily diktats from their overseers , who clearly regard off script questions as underling impudence.
The above cutesy brush off is a perfect example of how little democrats respect the press and how little they respect women who work as journalists... Democrats don't respect the press because they've found how easy it is to play journalists for fools.
Press toadies whoring for democrats doesn't help either... makes them look bad to both party. The result - now Republicans and citizens don't respect them either.

its called hard news, and no one does it well, if at all, anymore, in the msm
editorial writers are not paid to be journalists, but to be opinion writers, theh are paid because of their personalities and subsequent personal viewpoints

Imagine the outrage if valley girl Jen Psaki was attacked, like Sarah Huckabee Sanders, at a restaurant.
