China stands ready to capitalize on Joe Biden's decision to end military operations in Afghanistan. A WION TV host has warned that the Taliban is standing by to "rollout out the red carpet" to Beijing with the last US troops set to leave the region by August 31...
WION presenter Palki Sharma said the Taliban is on the lookout for allies "those who do not believe in democracy or basic freedoms of power-sharing."...
Quoting the Taliban spokesperson she continued: "We have been to China many times and we good relations with them.
"China is a friendly country that we welcome for reconstruction and developing Afghanistan."
Ms Sharma continued: "These are the words of Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen let me quote from what he said, he said 'we welcome them if they have investments, of course we ensure their safety. Their safety is very important for us.'...

Belt and Road Geostrategic win for China.
Hahahahahahahahaha!
And Bagram AFB will be the western combat outpost for CCP power projection.
On the other hand, Afghanistan may be China’s Waterloo. The USSR didn’t fare so well there, and neither did we.
Yep Afghanistan is about to become a huge polluted hole , oh wait ,LOL
If there is anything about China you need to derive an opinion from, it is that the Taliban will roll out the red carpet for the Communists.
It makes no difference if the Communists persecute muslims.
It is all about comrades in tyranny.
Why are you laughing? The CCP could not care less about 1. Women’s Rights, 2. Baka-Bazi Boy Rape Culture, 3. Massive Opium Production (since it will not be going to China, where they’ll just shoot smugglers and sell their organs.)
The CCP will spread billions of dollars around A-stan, not giving one damn about 1,2,3 above. And they’ll get an air power combat outpost in Bagram.
Exactly, see above.
Nope. See 7.
Russia might go there.
China might go there.
Maybe England will want to go back.
If there’s a way for both the Taliban and the CCP to lose, this would be it. Great idea. Go to it, boys!
Afghanis are people who are always living in interesting times. China will do to the Taliban what nobody else would dare to.
The Ruskies are going to be involved too. I only hope the Russians and Chinese have a Molotov-Ribbentrop type pact to divvy up Biden, America and our oversees commitments. Otherwise, the world is in great geopolitical danger as our adversaries fight to fill the power vacuum left by a prostrate United States.
Saw this coming.
Maybe at first, but China being China, I don’t think it will take them long before they start trying to exert political and religious control as well — at which time the Tribesmen will start shooting at them and China will be faced with the same problems that the Brits, Russians, and Americans had.
“I against my brother, my brother and I against my uncle, my brother, uncle, and I against the foreigner.” Shooting each other is what the Afghanis do. They like it.
This is why I personally was totally against invading Afghanistan from the start. Not that anyone gives a rat’s a** what I think.
The Chinese will get bogged down just like all the other invasions
Ok - I get the “no democracy” part as the Taliban are a theocracy.
But… they’re Muslim. Do they not see Chinas actions against their brethren?
Are they not concerned about China’s atheistic beliefs in defiance of Allah?
Meh - it’s just a stick in the eye to Biden and Obama and W
I dunno - I’m rooting for the taliban.
50 years ago are there abouts, the only time civilians would know about things like this is if we read Soldier of Fortune magazine and about 60 days after the facts. Now we get up to the minute news about anything going on in the world.
They will do to Afghanistan what nobody else would do. Prepare for lots of stories on re-education camps Chinese displacing Afgans of all ethic groups. Drug trade will continue or enlarge. They don’t need sophisticated modern tech just a Million man low tech army.
