San Francisco Political Leaders Out of Touch as City Descends Into Lawlessness
The Daily Signal ^ | 8 July 2021 | Jarrett Stepman

If you don’t like the explosion of violent crime, you’re a racist.

That’s the message sent by a top aide to the San Francisco district attorney to a self-described “Democrat” who had said on Twitter that the jump in crime had made people afraid for their lives and dubious about the city’s future.

The Democrat tweeted that “every single one of my friends right now is considering leaving” San Francisco because of the big increase in crime, adding: “My friends are scared for their children, and their husbands are scared for their wives.”

Kate Chatfield, a senior director for San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, responded from a now-locked Twitter account: “‘Husbands are scared for their wives’—your reminder that the ‘crime surge’ crowd shares the same ideology as The Birth of a Nation.”

“The Birth of a Nation,” a 1915 silent film directed by D.W. Griffith, was technically pioneering but attacked by later critics for racist, white supremacist views that prompted the rebirth of the Ku Klux Klan.

This Twitter squabble highlights a real problem for San Francisco. Not only is the beautiful City by the Bay being wracked by crime, but political leaders are committed to the policies and rhetoric that made it such a haven for criminality.

It’s part of a long-term trend in a city run by Democrats for generations and increasingly dominated by a strident left-wing ethos. From the school board, to the city council, to the district attorney’s office, San Francisco is dominated by people more consumed with changing school names and other woke virtue signaling rather than making the city a safe and prosperous place to live and visit.

Current San Francisco leadership seems intent on driving all law-abiding residents and all retail businesses out of the city. Maybe the plan is they will then buy up all the real estate when prices crash, institute Draconian law and order policies, and then make a killing when people and businesses return.

“the ‘crime surge’ crowd shares the same ideology as The Birth of a Nation.”

No matter that they’re circling the bowl, so long as the Woke flag is firmly planted on the turd.

The title is wrong.

It should be: “Voters Out of Touch as City Descends Into Lawlessness”.

If SF city hall crashes the property values of that city, businesses aren’t returning, especially the small business owners. They already have Target either bailing on some store there or reducing open hours to the *daylight* (currently 9am-6pm for SF Targets).

When you watch leftist politicians and their subordinates openly attack Americans for seeking to get their governments to live up to their obligations you know that they think that elections can no longer touch them.

The 2022 election is for all the marbles.

The 2020 elections are not that far away, and the left will tie up all of the legal challenges in court well beyond November 2022.

I really enjoyed visiting San Francisco up until the last time I was there in 2018. I can’t conceive of how bad it is now. My wife and I were planning on taking Amtrak cross country to San Francisco in October with two of our granddaughters. When we booked the fare, we only went as far as Sacramento. We will rent a car to drive to Big Sur and Yosemite, then fly back home from Sacramento. Five years ago we would have spent one or two days in San Francisco. I can’t think of a city more reliant on tourism other than Vegas. This BS has got to wipe out tourism. Who in their right mind would go there, let alone with children or grandchildren?

Stay there. You elected them, live with your choices.

We don't know if the voters are actually voting for this stuff, thanks to the open 2020 election rigging.

Most out of touch pols in history.

Marie Antoinette allegedly set the Gold Standard of out of touchnesss with “Let them eat cake”

San Francisco's lunatics up the ante with “let them eat your cake, lunch and dinner too”. Heck, they are even stealing the dish washing detergent too boot.

My then-employer sent me to SF for a conference in fall of 2018; it was just a few blocks from the hotel to the conference site, but there was a bum encampment on the sidewalk along the way.

They are well-aware of what is going on. They are politicians are don’t care unless they are about to get tossed from office.

In order to promote law and order, first, you have to believe in law and order. The idiots running places like SF, don’t.

Ideology (I’m a believer) trumps (smile) facts (nasty things)! True believers draw analogs to projections rather than accept a dangerous diagnosis (to them) of real life experience! SanFran and the Golden Gate was a welcome sight to WW2 military returning home, now it has become a symbol of failed LEFTist government in California!

If voters are out of touch why does Deep State have to steal elections, eh?

Newsom didn’t just make sure the recall will be all mail in because he was worried about winning.

In the article a small shop owner says she’s been broken into 14 times. Yet she’s still there. These people are slow learners.

GET. OUT.

Before they kill you.

Watch any Dirty Harry movie from the 70s and you’ll see nothing has changed since then.
