Hoo boy: Murkowski's favorable rating among Alaska Republicans is ... 6/84

But that’s the data we have and the pros are paying attention. “To me, the conventional wisdom that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) is favored just b/c she won a write-in campaign back in 2010 and Alaska has a new top-four system has never been that compelling,” tweeted Dave Wasserman in response to the Change Research numbers. “AK’s a red state, and GOP voters now view her as a Dem.” Another explained the difference between Murkowski and the recently reelected Susan Collins well: “Maine Republicans know Collins is about the most conservative Senator they can get from their state. Alaska Republicans know Murkowski is about the least conservative Senator they can get from their state.” Collins’s base can forgive her a lot because they know that seat’s going blue if they don’t. Not so for Murkowski and her own Republican constituents. Last month analyst Joe Szymanski looked at Murkowski’s 2022 prospects and concluded they’re poor and fading:

Murkowski’s style of politics, which used to be the mainstream, now seem out of touch. Remember that Murkowski only lost her 2010 primary by around 2000 votes. I am quite confident that if she were to face a similar challenge in 2022, that number would be much wider. Her staying power with Republicans has tanked, and if recent polling is to be believed, her numbers with independents (who lean right in Alaska) aren’t great either.

The only people she is above water with approval wise are democrats, and even they don’t give her 50% approval. That just wouldn’t be enough to do what she did in 2010. It’s not the same atmosphere of American politics, where today voters are tired of the perceived establishment and dynasties – if which Murkowski is both.

Murkowski is a soiled RINO, otherwise known as a democRAT in the Trump era.

Until she is replaced, she may very well just rubber stamp her vote as Democrat.

'AK’s a red state...'

Is it though? It's a weird state with the most reliable Republican voters living in the metropolitan areas and the most remote, rural areas going to the Democrats (probably having something to do with its Indigenous population). I can't think of any other state like that.

Sure, Trump beat Biden by 10-points in Alaska. But, he only won 52% of the vote which is also really weird. Alaska seems to have an unusually high affinity for peculiar, 3rd-party candidates.

While it doesn't seem likely Murkowski could make lightening strike twice with a write-in. I think there's more than a little chance she give the win to the Democrat if she ran a 3rd-party candidacy.

I believe AK recently installed Rank Choice Voting so if Murk runs again she may be re-elected by coming in second or third choice from enough people. Name recognition may provide just enough to get some votes.

RCV may have been implemented to save money on the voting process but it seems to be turning out to be the vehicle that elects nobody’s first choice. I suppose that is the pure definition of ‘compromise’ but it seems to me to be just another way to thwart the will of the people.

And it passed by ‘ballot initiative,’ no less. More evidence to support the conclusion that Alaska is FAR from a ‘Red State.’

I expect we will see Trump in Alaska holding a rally before the primary vote. I despise Murkowski and hope to see her replaced with a Trump endorsed candidate.

Alaska has been screwed up since the FBI framed Ted Stevens. The judge in that case? Judge Sullivan, Mike Flynn’s judge.

That red state has RCV and RCV enabled voting machines.

Just like Maine.

Murky ain’t going anywhere unless Deep State wants her gone.

Note to Alaskans: Want an honest election? Get off your butts, repeal RCV, and go back to dumb voting machines.

Otherwise you’re not voters, you’re serfs.

Murkowski only got elected the last few times because of Democrats.

This is a seat I would love to see Sarah Palin run for. Her political career was too short, perhaps her own choice to cash in, but I think she could have inspired the GOP in the D.C. Senate.

If she wins the nomination again, Joe Miller should run as an indie.

Miller ran as the Libertarian nominee in a rematch in 2016. Came up short, unfortunately. There won’t be nominees by party this time, just the top 4 finishers regardless of party.

I wonder what happened to Sullivan. He’s the judge who ruled that the military couldn’t force the soldiers to take the experimental vaccines after the Gulf War Syndrome fiasco.
