Looters were captured on video Monday ransacking a Neiman Marcus in San Francisco as thefts continue to plague businesses in the area.
At least nine suspects smashed display cases, snatched handbags, and jetted out of the building before law enforcement arrived to the scene at about 6 p.m., according to footage. The suspects were seen running out of the store with their hands full of merchandise before entering an apparent getaway car that sped off down a busy intersection.
A man was caught on video in June filling a garbage bag with what appeared to be hair products before leaving the drugstore on his bicycle. A security guard, who was recording the incident, tried to grab the individual, though he eluded custody.
Walgreens shuttered 17 of its stores in the San Francisco area in the past five years, and the company said thefts in the area are four times more likely than anywhere else in the country as executives budgeted 35 times more for security personnel to guard the chains.
Target executives in the city also decided to limit business hours in response to an uptick in larceny.
Shoppers can no longer buy products in the chains after 6 p.m. after once being permitted to shop until 10 p.m.
"For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores," a spokesperson for Target said at the time.
San Francisco Police Lt. Tracy McCray faulted District Attorney Chesa Boudin's "criminals first agenda" for the uptick in theft incidents.
"What happened in that Walgreens has been going on in the city for quite a while," she said in June. "I’m used to it. I mean, we could have a greatest hits compilation of people just walking in and cleaning out the store shelves and security guards, the people who work there, just standing by helplessly because they can’t do anything."
"The 'criminals first' agenda from the district attorney [is to blame] because he's not prosecuting any of those crimes as felonies [or] as a commercial burglary. [Criminals realize,] 'This is gonna get slapped down to a misdemeanor,'" she continued.
Thefts under $950 are considered a misdemeanor in McCray's area of operation, she added, and suspected criminals are often issued citations instead of spending time in jail ahead of their court date. In some cases, she said, thieves will have their case thrown out if they skip their court appearances.
Neither the San Francisco Police Department nor Neiman Marcus immediately responded to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
Well, that's one approach: Wring your hands, cry "Woe is me", sit back, and take it. The other approach is to get off your ass and fight back. I would hope that there are others in CA who feel the same and would like an honest election to take place. It begins with checking ID's before people vote and then making sure the ballots are protected, including no Internet access at any point, at all times during their count. And don't buy the Democrat BS that voters can't get to places to have their ID photos taken. If that's the case, they don't care enough to make the effort to get an ID and vote, CA is probably better off without their vote.
Have you seen the video of an Amazon truck being looted?
The “video at link” showed all black people running out with the expensive handbags.
Doesn’t that mean the video is racist?
Take apart the camera in that cell phone and find out.
I know you are right.
One of the many terrible things about America now is the news censorship.
I suggested a few days ago that the stores price everything at $951.00, then take the appropriate discount to market value at the register on checkout. But some liberal judge would just say no and let 'em go.
We are not showing ANYBODY that we mean business…except for the 500 indefinitely imprisoned for entering the capitol on Jan. 6.
Oh well.
If it bleeds it leads. If they are Black it lacks (coverage worthiness)
Still less risky and less overhead than a retail store.
Hit the DA's home with some friends. Walk off with under $1k each. If they try to charge you yell discrimination and unequal justice. Plenty of other rich political libs and anti-gun tech billionaires around. What are they going to do, shoot you? For desert hit the Pelosi 'ice cream parlor.' And if you really want to be praised for redistributing the wealth, go to the source. Pick up some 'surplus' computers and high end video equipment at the local MSM franchises. </s>
Exactly.
Well of course, there are plenty of people in California who would like to see the return of honest elections. But there is exactly zero chance that California’s corrupt Democrat machine will ever again allow something even remotely like that. And forget about voter ID. That will never happen here. Ever. I don’t want to be a downer, but you’re simply not aware of how bad it has gotten here, and worse, it’s coming your way.
Now, for some context, it pains me to say all of that. I was a grassroots volunteer, door knocker, headquarters funder etc. since Reagan ran for president. I believed in the process, but there’s simply no way that California is going to vote its way out of this mess.
There is a saying that applies to this topic: If it works, don't fix it.
I also saw a brazen theft by a black guy at Best Buy. There’s something wrong with that chain. Likely that the security guards are complicit or afraid to act.
The arbitrary limit of $950 for misdemeanors gives the looters the incentive to steal without accountability. This life without accountability seems to be embedded in the black culture. This Black Lives Matter gives them the ticket to do anything they want, even when you want to save your life against them.
A very small minority -- in a limited part of the country -- which could be easily upended if the will was omnipresent.
This doesn't happen everywhere. If anything, retail stores like Walgreens -- outside of useless places like Kalifornia -- are enhancing stop-loss techniques, investing in AI linked to surveillance, investing in plain-clothes on-site at peak theft / Rx fraud hours (thanks, AI metrics).
That’s so sad. The bad news is that the concentration ratio of Dems will increase as people with at least one neuron still firing leave the state. I wonder what the endpoint looks like in CA?
There used to be a TV series called "Bait Car" in which a specially equipped vehicle was left unlocked to bait car thieves into taking it. Then it was shut down remotely by the police and locked the thieves in.
On one episode they set up a truck in a "bad" area, near the projects, loaded with what appeared to be boxes of electronics. The looters soon appeared and were shocked to find police hiding behind the last row of boxes. But the "Look what we found" attitude of the criminals before their capture was amazing, as if they were entitled to take whatever they could carry.
That’s a good old saying, but eventually the methods used to make the sausage are revealed and people then give up sausage.
People like clean, safe streets but don’t like seeing how they are made.
Wasn’t Arpaio Sherif of Maricopa County? Wuth the fraud machine the demon rats have running in that county maybe Arpaio was not voted out by the people but by the fraud machine.
