Creator of the New York Times' 1619 Project Nikole Hannah-Jones has dramatically rejected the University of North Carolina's offer of tenured position and will be accepting a role at Howard University instead.
Hannah-Jones announced Tuesday she will become a member of the historically black university's Cathy Hughes School of Communication and will also lead its newly created Center for Journalism and Democracy to train the next generation of African-American reporters.
One week ago, trustees at UNC-Chapel Hill approved Hannah-Jones' tenure, capping weeks of tension that began when her application was halted because she did not come from a 'traditional academic-type background'.

Buh-bye.
Just like your discredited 1619 project, right?
RE: she claimed ‘powerful donor’ blocked her from lifetime role
And the donor did the right thing.
Why should a patriot continue to donate to a School that teaches students to hate his country?
Oh my. You have to read the article. Here the trustees did the left the courtesy on knuckling under to pressure a reconsider the tenure decision and all they get in return is a mini-riot and, in the end, she gives them the finger and goes to Harvard. Delicious!
thank you!
Poor Howard.

So she really just wanted UNC’s genuflection…
That right there is some funny stuff. Assclowns beat themselves up with guilt and lack of wokeness, capitulated and then mx.16-19 spits in their collective faces. Will this “wake” them up to NOT kowtowing ever again? Nope, probably not.
Thank you, Thank You, Thank you !!!!
“..she claimed ‘powerful donor’ blocked her from lifetime role”
Money talks, bullsh*t walks.
LOL. She’s not some great physicist or mathematician who happens to have racist political views. Her “contribution” to any university will be scholarship that is nothing but racism and lies. UNC benefits by not getting her. I’m sure there are some cowards on UNC’s board breathing a sigh of relief.
I am glad for her. She won’t face life-destroying microaggressions from racists incognizant of her lived experience.
I enjoy the fact that the weak, anti-academic worms that run UNC established that they have no standards, then she spat in their groveling faces. Jones did UNC a huge favor, since she would have been a source of constant future embarrassment, whereas they can get over this humiliation and move on. Note that she is headed not to Harvard, but to Howard, and in a more appropriate department — journalism, where standards, judgement, and accuracy are not required.
Gee: If “I” write a fictional story about race history, can I gain appointment to lead the next generation of WHITE journalists?
Or would that be offensive?

Conservatives — finally — fighting back.
