Several members of the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) turned away from the flag as a 98-year-old WWII veteran played the national anthem.
The incident occurred Monday, just before the USWNT took-on Mexico in their final tune-up before the Tokyo Olympics.
The veteran playing the harmonica is Pete DuPré, who has gained national notoriety playing the anthem at sporting events all over the country. The USWNT protest on Monday was not the first time U.S. athletes have snubbed the flag while qualifying for the Olympics. In late June, hammer thrower Gwen Berry also turned away from the flag during the playing of the national anthem.
Monday’s incident sparked intense backlash on Twitter.

In some other countries, those skanks wouldn’t make it out of the stadium alive.
Here’s hoping they lose big.
And the politicians bitch and complain about the actions of the America-haters, but nothing is ever done about it.

The GOP prefers talk over action. And it seems to work for them; there are still a lot of them in DC. We must do better and demand accountability.

Well they are denying it now....This had better not happen at the Olympics.
Does FedGov have any real actionable authority over these so-called national teams? I doubt it. The Olympics are a private non-governmental organization. I think legally (US Law) the participating US Olympians are doing it as private individuas & organizations. If FedGov underwrites the cost maybe cut that would be the only recourse.
Harold Ford Jr. thinks the women are great, typical idiot Lefty.
They were looking at a flag at the end of the stadium and some looking that way had their hand over their hearts.
It’s getting to the point where we pretty much should go “Rollerball” and everybody competes for their preferred Corporation.
You are supposed to face the American flag if there is one present — otherwise, you face the music. Literally.
What you say is true however the Committee is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation and should not be involved in displays of a political nature, or condone actions which could be seen in that light.
The bigger issue to me is that the GOP never does anything to really stand up for our values, principles and beliefs. They talk a lot but do very little if anything to advance the conservative agenda. Heck, they won’t even defund the highly liberal and partisan NPR/PBS.
Any company that sponsors these anti-Americans should be boycotted.
“The Olympics are going to be a train wreck”
The Japanese will be insulted. Will the Shinai whoosh through the air delivering heavy blows as the rude are bloodied over the insult?
Don’t watch the olympics. Don’t participate in their game.
I am an American. These “ladies” represent ME.
I therefore demand that they be kicked off the team forthwith.
Call or write your senators and demand that they grill the USOC about this.

They don’t work for us. They work for the individuals, interest groups and businesses who offer them money. Ask anyone who has worked on the Hill.
According to the article at Breitbart, they were allegedly facing a flag in the stadium rather than the veteran playing the harmonica. I’m still not watching the Olympics, but this incident could be a tempest in a teapot.
Why would anyone support or watch these idiots who hate their own country?
Maybe they should move to another country that does not “oppress” its citizens like the USA-—Oh, never mind. I forgot, all those other countries at any given point in time killed and tortured their citizens for simply not agreeing them. I’m sure they would love to live in the socialist utopias of China, Russia and N. Korea. Slave labor and all that stuff....
