Ah, the Indians. For whatever reason they tended to pick the ‘wrong’ side in the white man’s wars. French & Indian, most favored the French, who lost. American Revolution, most favored the English, who lost. War of 1812 again the English, who didn’t win. Civil War, tribes tended to favor the South.

I’m not saying their fate would have been awfully different had they picked the winning side but picking the losing side didn’t help.

But it really came down to economics. Stone Age hunter-gatherers up against iron age agriculturists. Forty acres of land could feed and support how many colonists vs Indians. It is why we came to outnumber them so quickly. They were doomed the moment Columbus sighted land. And if it wasn’t Columbus it would have been Cabral only 8 years later when he bumped into Brazil.
