LONDON – Newport Wafer Fab, the U.K.’s largest chip producer, is set to be acquired by Chinese-owned semiconductor company Nexperia for around £63 million ($87 million) next week, according to two sources close to the deal who asked to remain anonymous because the information is not yet public.

Nexperia, a Dutch firm that is 100%-owned by China’s Wingtech Technology, told CNBC on Friday that the deal talks are ongoing.

Between that and taking over Taiwan, as they are threatening to do, they will have cornered the market in chips.

As I understand things . . . . . because of the incredible usage of computers in just about everything we've come to enjoy and rely on in life, the planet pretty much operates, and is operated, with chips.

If China corners the chip market, China owns the planet.

Well when the chips are down, we know who we will have to kowtow to.

My fear is that we are already kowtowing and we don't know it.

World events are put into play almost immediately, but the grinding of the gears are slow.

The "pandemic" was less than two years ago and the entire planet has been affected by the players pushing the scam.

The world was on SUCH a fast moving and positive stride under President Trump until they invented COVID, then all hell broke loose.

Every nation withdrew into it's own self and made the civilized world know how miserable they were.

Here in the USA, we became obsessed with the public school system.

Unfortunately, the 'system" is something that is TOO, a tool and it was pretty much no longer needed ... and Americans STILL have not realized the hustle in it's reality.

Spain just declared a de facto death rate of 0.09 % due to real covid deaths and all over are reports of the exaggerated numbers of covid cases and deaths.

There's a faction yet of staunch Trump supporters that are keeping the American Constitution and fat those slow wheels are still turning and I fear we have lost the last opportunity to return to America as she was envisioned.

What, I wonder, does a kid think when he enlists in the military these days ?

In 1965, I was gonn'a kill the commie bastards, but what is a 17 - 20 year old's thought processes as he enters the military in the young 2020's ?

What we need is to get an America First American to start an chip plant and build it for American companies.

If Trump were still president, I believe he would be encouraging chip production in the good old USA because we need chips in everything.

A “Dutch” firm that is 100% Chinese owned.

The EU, having so little in the top technology firms, like “chips”, is being bought by China, and technology, including “chips” is now the financial leaders with more and more industries either dependent on (and funneling more and more revenue to) the top tech leaders.

How many industries will be absorbed by a few tech giants, as tech giants seek to have captive companies that require their technology. Amazon is frequently requiring firms seeking a place on Amazon’s retail platforms to sell or give Amazon a stake in their company as part of the deals that keep them or put them up on Amazon.

83 million (dollars or pounds) is a little strange. This plant must be several generations behind.

State of the art FABs cost over a billion dollars to build.

If tis is the state of the art in the UK then they are simply not players in the semiconductor market — outside of very low end uses.

OTOH, any FAB transfer to the Chinese should be prevented for security reasons.

Well that is just great. Thanks Great Britain.

Agent 007(Roger Moore) recovers a microchip in Siberia...That microchip is supposed to work even under electromagnetic attack by the enemy...That microchip is the exact copy of the microchip made by a British company...Max Zorin(Christopher Walken) is the owner...

I thought the movie was OK...It had some good scenes...

If Trump were still president, I believe he would be encouraging chip production in the good old USA because we need chips in everything.

In A VIEW TO A KILL, General Gogol brought an Order of Lenin to M, the head of British Secret Service...He wanted to give the medal to Agent 007 (Roger Moore) for saving Silicon Valley from destruction...General Gogol explains that Soviet research would go nowhere if KGB cannot steal information from Silicon Valley...That movie came out during 1980s...

It would be great if chips were made in US...Yes, indeed...
