Indeed... and the variants will keep on coming. X-Y-Z and all the ABC’s of any viruses variants they can come up with. California will be in a perpetual state of lock-down and Hazmat suits living underground like the movie ‘12 Monkeys.’

But in this case its California and the 12 Donkeys.

What ever the stuff going around now, in N. California is, it hits the 30-50 group very hard. No deaths yet in our 6 county area in that age bracket.

The 65 plus/over are going to the hospitals for intensive treatment. Most are surviving. Older Women seem to be getting hit very hard and a few deaths in women over 65.

This current crud/stuff probably should be called the Aztec/Biden revenge instead of the Delta whatever.

How many were hospitalized and/or died.
**********
Good question. Also, how many had any symptoms at all?

Of course! It’s all part of ‘The Plan ©️”. Destroy the economy so that everyone is dependent upon ‘Big Gubmint’ and ‘Big Tech’. Those who are ‘non-compliant’, or ‘net users of resources’, will be cut off from everything but air. Starve, or die of thirst or, because of the ‘merciful’ nature of your gubmint, they’ll provide you with a quick and painless shot that will end your suffering painlessly and permanently.

Remember, the World Economic Forum’s stated goals for 2030. Among them is, ‘You will own nothing, and be happy.’

It’s all part of the ‘Great Reset’. The super rich will own and control everything, through their minions (aka: politicians), providing resources to whomever they choose, and withholding resources from everyone else. How else will they get the world down to the 700 million people that Billy Gates wants. All part of ‘The Plan ©️’.

Newsome is kind of between a rock and a hard place with this. A portion of his base are keen to see the mask mandate return, and indeed become a permanent feature of life in the once-golden state.

But that seems to be a vocal minority at this point (based on my own admittedly narrow observations.) The vast majority are OVER the ‘Rona, and will not take well to any more nonsense with ‘Rona as the excuse.

For sure, if they do reinstate the mask mandate, I’m heading to Texas for the duration, even if it’s august and a zillion degrees in the shade.

The graph you linked to actually shows the rise is larger than the article describes. The 7 day average bottomed out at 920 cases/day on June 15 and has risen to 1165/day, a 26.6% increase. The huge scale of the graph just hides such a tiny numerical change because of the magnitude of the winter case surge. We are still DOWN 97% from the late December peak. Down Ninety Seven Percent.

A more accurate indicator, Hospital and and ICU admissions are up similarly in the same period, but again, numerically, the numbers are very small. If a state went from 4 cases to 5 cases, headlines would scream OMG, a 25% increase!

https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ca.open.data/viz/COVID-19HospitalsDashboard/Hospitals

Still, these numbers are tiny in a state of 40,000,000 people, and a 25% increase over 2 weeks tells me that this wave will be shallow, nothing like the last one. And so far, I see no evidence that any of these mutations are worse than the original. More contagious, maybe, but fewer people are dying every day. We’ve reopened almost everything and have virtually zero capacity or social distancing rules, so a small increase was expected by everyone with more than a few brain cells.

The media are doing the same with Israel, warning of the “surge” in new cases. Up from 10/day to 234, over 2,000%! Yet no one has died in over 3 weeks... Delta shmelta.

“the Delta variant is definitely less lethal. UK cases have spiked, and deaths have barely budged (even considering a two week delay)”

I’ve even been hearing that the symptoms seem less severe - more like common cold, less persistent cough, difficulty breathing or loss of taste/smell.

But it is possible that the lower death rate is due to the protective effect of vaccines among the vulnerable. The unvaccinated are very disproportionally younger and healthier. It might be interesting to compare fatality rates from Delta between high and low vaccination Countries.

“The unvaccinated are mostly younger and healthier than average and don’t suffer severe effects from their infections. Their infections give them natural immunity adding further to our approach to herd immunity.

It’s over as a pandemic.”

Mrsmith posted a link on another thread recently, where an academic projected how Delta might burn through the unvaccinated in the USA.

The gist was another 10-11% of the population likely to get exposed, and develop natural immunity.

If there is a rapid rise in cases for a while, that might also give a shot in the arm (little pun there) to vaccination rates as well. When you add all that to our currently already strong vaccination/natural immunity status, this is the last hurrah for COVID, if it even still qualifies as a Pandemic or Epidemic. (I don’t think it does any longer)

If the deep state and other useful idiots had dug their own graves and then laid down and whimpered “You can bury me now,” it would have been more intelligent than what they did with the China virus.
