I was never a ploughman, but I recognized the awful government of Michigan and Detroit when I escaped Detroit at age 17 (1972). Best decision of my life.

Florida has about 21 million people, vs. New York City has a bit over 8 million. So per capita, NYC spends wastes a ton of money.
