Doctors are beginning to notice Covid-19 cases that look more like a very bad cold, especially in areas of the country where the highly contagious delta variant is quickly spreading.
While shortness of breath and other lung issues remain among the most worrisome Covid-19 symptoms, it appears upper respiratory complaints — marked by congestion, a runny nose and headache — may be increasing.
Full coverage of the coronavirus outbreak
"We've seen a number of folks with cold-like symptoms," said Dr. Robert Hopkins Jr., an internist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
The potential shift in symptoms is not to say that the illness should be brushed off as just a cold. Respiratory droplets emitted from coughs and sneezes can infect other, more vulnerable, people. And cases that start off mild can worsen and become more serious.

Well the FluBros were wrong... it isn’t “just a flu”.. It is actually “just a cold”.
PING
The Covid Paul Reveres seem to be yelling, “The common cold is coming! The common cold is coming!”
In England it is being confused with hay fever, and vice versa.
The better half is now on her third round of antibiotics due to a particularly bad case of bronchitis she’s had for the last 6 weeks or so. We both had the ‘rona almost a year ago and she’s been tested twice in the last month-both tests were negative, so that ain’t it.
I’m beginning to think we need to find a much more competent quack...
Good one.
OH NO!!! Colds!!!! Close down all businesses and schools!!!!!!!!!!!
It's all comedy until you run out of hankies.
Lets see now. Summer time and pollens triggering sinus allergies which are common to trigger respiratory infections in severe cases...nah never mind can’t be that.... Just government wanting more mouth diaper control and close the nation again.
Hello!
It’s ALLERGY season!!!!!!
The common cold is a corona virus, we all knew that anyway.
The fact that too many are people are still masked and are not getting outside for fresh air and vitamin D may have something to do with it.
Arkansas and Delta ping.
The article cites Arkansas (and Utah) as a low vaccination rate State, and as high in the Delta variant.
It discusses that reported symptoms of COVID there seem to have shifted away from things like shortness of breath, persistent cough and loss of smell/taste; and now more frequently present like common cold symptoms.
That might be because of the Delta variant, or because it is a generally younger demographic now catching the disease (mostly unvaccinated).
I think it’s a rhinovirus, not that it really matters.
I had been wondering for some time, if you stay in your house for a year and are exposed to no viruses, what happens to your immune system?
I suspect staying inside and not being exposed to any of the usual viruses that circulate among the population each year would make you more susceptible to those when you finally venture out. It seems logical to me that you would also suffer more harshly from those viruses than normally.
My thoughts as well.
It’s just a vaccine too Bro.
Keep people locked up for a year and a half and their immune systems get flabby.
That’s not a bug (ha hah), it’s a feature.
Now Deep State has more it can blame on CoupFlu.
