Dr. Marty Makary, a Johns Hopkins Hospital surgeon, Fox News medical contributor, and one of the few talking heads these days displaying any sanity at all on the topic of all things COVID-19, lent a heavy dose of reality to the ongoing "fearmongering" about the Delta variant.
The newest scarient, first discovered in India, is currently on a fast track to becoming the dominant coronavirus strain in the world. It's also becoming the latest excuse for the powers-that-be to try to keep people masked-up, in their homes, and frightened out of their wits. Except, while Delta is indeed more transmissible, no evidence exists that it's any more deadly than previous strains. And since the elderly and vulnerable mostly have either natural or vaccinated immunity, its infection of mostly younger people so far doesn't appear to be resulting in any significant upsurge in U.S. hospitalizations or deaths.
During a Tuesday afternoon appearance on Fox News' "America Reports," Makary called Los Angeles officials' Delta-induced recommendation of indoor masking "overkill."

OK, I have to say this, though I am definitely on his side.
Since he came out a few months ago, Makary is the only Hopkins guy that keeps coming up.
It doesn’t look good when it’s the only person always in the news. There are thousands of Hopkins docs/professors.

The more contagious, the less “virulent”.
The more deadly, the less contagious.
I’m not interested in how contagious. I’m interested in how deadly.
Wake up doc. It isn’t about CV, it’s strictly control.

The doc got it right. The key issue is whether COVID is a serious danger, not whether it was caused by the Chinese or transmitted by the illegals. If it is no more dangerous than any other common disease, the whole case for the hysteria collapses, the masks and lockdowns were not needed, and the rush to vaccinate was a wasted effort.

Yeadon (Pfizer) said the variants lie was one reason he moved from thinking “convergence” to “conspiracy”. He said the chance that any variants would “escape immunity” were nil. So why were the powers lying about it?
The press are lazy. They have contacts they use over and over.
A Hopkins surgeon is not an epidemiologist. Skill cutting out an appendix doesn’t really provide him with any special insights about a virus.
1) Have a look at the US death counts since about March of last year. You can find them on worldometer. The virus arrived mostly in New England and started upwards to a peak. And then declined. Why did it decline? No idea. All sorts of possible reasons. It bottomed late June. Then upwards starting early July, and turned back down to September. Come November, it had spread country wide and the peak was steep and high. It turned back down before any appreciable number of vaccinations had taken place. You can imagine whatever reasons you want, but that’s what the numbers did. Not why. What. We’re not seeing anything all that different this summer vs last summer.
2) Natural herd immunity concept has to explain 2 things: First how does natural response deal with an unnatural, artificial virus and second, natural immunity didn’t eliminate smallpox, so don’t worship at the altar of natural immunity.
3) PCR cycle count changes, defining deaths with vs of Covid, economic incentive for hospitals to declare covid . . . all these things corrupt the data. Pretty much only Excess Deaths (of ALL causes) can be at least somewhat trusted. As of now, 45-64 age group has excess deaths above the multi year average and that’s slightly above last year. 65-74 is also slightly excess. 75-84 and 85+ are at zero EDs as of now (now is defined as 4-5 weeks ago, death info takes time to arrive and accumulate). The zero EDs for the very old are very close to what they were last year, pre Vax. EDs depend also on the reality that many, many more elderly die in winter than in summer. The multi year average curve is a U shape, with the bottom in summer. So EDs in this time frame requires a very low death count, and that’s what we’re getting. Overall, in general, what all this means is we won’t know much until October/November, when last year’s explosion arrived.
