The dangerous Delta variant of the coronavirus is spreading so quickly in the United States that it's likely the mutant strain will become predominant in the nation within weeks, according to federal health officials and a new analysis.
At a White House briefing on COVID-19 on Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health said 20.6% of new cases in the U.S. are due to the Delta variant. And other scientists tracking the variant say it is on track to become the dominant virus variant in the U.S.
"The Delta variant is currently the greatest threat in the U.S. to our attempt to eliminate COVID-19," Fauci said. He noted that the proportion of infections being caused by the variant is doubling every two weeks.
The variant, first identified in India, is the most contagious yet and, among those not yet vaccinated, may trigger serious illness in more people than other variants do, he said.

Excuse me, who EVER said ANYTHING about trying to ‘eliminate COVID-19’???
Second, before I listen to any more BS, these government officials should be required to reference the ACTUAL SCIENCE and DATA justifying their statements. I’ve heard far too many times “we’re following the ‘science’” when there’s no science to back up a policy at all.
This is all about ensuring Dr. Anthony Fauci’s income. He is trying to extend the pandemic to keep the cash flow coming in. Dr. Fauci and Dr. Baric are the two responsible for this gain-in-function crap, the engineering to allow it to attack humans. Look into testimony by David E. Martin, PHD on the subject.
How do WE know that? I heard the same about the “UK strain”. The second there’s (supposedly) another strain detected the immediate narrative is that it is worse. In reality, most mutations are LESS severe.
I also question the ability to know this. The PCR tests, in general, give high numbers of false positives (too many amplification cycles). I find it astonishing that they “know” there’s even a new strain and am even more astonished that everywhere immediately has a test for it. Quite miraculous.
I don’t believe a word of it.

Don’t know if this is true but-— I read that while Delta is more infectious, what people might come down with is like a mild case of the flu. That the Delta effects are not as bad as previous Cov-19
MIGHT is the key word. Not everyone who catches Covid19 comes down with symptoms and illness. Not by a long shot
I live hundreds of miles from the nearest Delta so this variant doesn’t worry me at all.

More infectious yes. But if infected w Delta, what you *might* come down with (symptoms, illness) is more mild than the original Covid. So I have read.
