I've sung this song, but I'll sing it again Of the place we all lived that has gone plumb insane In the month of March, country called USA And here's what all of the people there say
So long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh These woky old shmucks are a-gettin your homes And it's time to stop going along
Covid-19 hit, and it hit like thunder It f@#$ed us over with a long string of blunders Blocked out twitter posts and "fact-checked" the POTUS Censored and shadow-banned, not that anyone noticed. Confined to their homes all the people did stay, singin'
So long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh These woky old shmucks are a-gettin your homes And it's time to stop going along
We talked climate change, exchanged pronouns and then We'd sing a song and then sing it again We'd sit for an hour, rage without being heard And then these words would be heard
So long, it's been good to know yuh...
Teens sat in the park and sparked through their masks, Kissing and hugging an impossible task They sighed and cried in a futile embrace Tasting halitosis with those things on their face
Singing so long, it's been good to know yuh...

Now the smartphones made noises vibrating and beeping That was the preacher. It was time for Zoom preaching He said, "Kind friends, this may be the end And you got your last chance of salvation from sin"
The band width was crowded, the churches were locked The covid-19 lock-up was like torture on racks The preacher, he buffered, the connection was lost An' he folded his specs and had him a conniption
Saying so long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh So long, it's been good to know yuh These woky old shmucks are a-gettin your homes And it's time to stop going along
The governor packed nursing homes with the infected To cause much more deaths so Trump wouldn't be reelected The elderly, dying, with their final breaths Called out their tormentor who was talking to the Press

As Dan Bongino has recently said, and I paraphrase, we are the rebels. We are the counter-culture. From across the ocean, all I can do to help you is use my facility to write and to think. And imho, what's needed is folks songs, satire, chants to march to, and the inspiration that such creations inspire. Here is my most recent offering. There'll be more, but don't wait for me.
Please feel free to add your own. Who knows. Parents might read them, and be chanting or singing them at a school board meeting soon.

This is more of an “All You Can Eat” Buffet or Smorgasbord than what I first expected to be a Ballad or an Ode.
Regardless, there’s whit and humor, lightly dusted with sarcasm ,ready to be tasted in this hot strudel dish.

This land is your land and this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the school board meetings to Maxine Waters
This land was made for you and me
As I went walking the DC alleys
I saw about me, those endless crack vials
Saw below me that burnt-out junky
This land was made for him and me
I roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling steps of her capitol entrance
All around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me
When the sun come shining, then I was strolling 'cause the price of gas meant no cars were rolling The voice was chanting 'bout global warming But this land was made for you and me
This land is your land and this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the guarded entrace to Maxine Waters
This land was made for you and me
When the sun come shining, then I was strolling
'cause the cost of gas meant no cars were rolling
The voice come a-chanting 'bout global warming
But this land was made for you and me
Then I came up to the barbed-wire fence where
A National Guardsman said "you can't come in there"
And right behind him, a pin-striped pimp said "I represent you. So move along now." While in the House there, he didn't say nothing, But this land was made for you and me.
