While not exactly a, “silent,” hobby, I have often mentioned the zen-like quality of a day at the shooting range. I explain it to non-shooting acquaintances describing how deep, intense focus on sight picture, target, breath, posture and trigger pull can make the rest of the world melt away.
Flying, or, rather, landing, does it for me.
