Delta Variant – The COVID Sequel

Most successful movies try to cash in on their box office bonanza with a sequel. Some do this well, like The Godfather, with both original and sequel winning best picture. Others simply get old and tiresome, like the Star Wars or Halloween franchises.

COVID is no exception, after a wildly successful debut year. Success, of course, is in the eye of the beholder. For those who died or are suffering long haul symptoms, it was a disaster. Same for owners of closed businesses, those still out of work, and individuals and their families dealing with the aftershocks of depression, substance abuse, and a host of other mental health issues.

It was successful for those willing do absolutely anything to get rid of President Trump as well as for those standing to gain financially by destroying small businesses, creating a multi-billion-dollar COVID vaccine industry, or bowing to their Chinese and social media paymasters.

The COVID sequel is called the “Delta Variant,” a predictable mutation of the original Chinese coronavirus as it passes through hosts, replicating, and moving on to another host. From an article in Nature Microbiology,

Mutation. The word naturally conjures fears of unexpected and freakish changes. Ill-informed discussions of mutations thrive during virus outbreaks, including the ongoing spread of SARS-CoV-2. In reality, mutations are a natural part of the virus life cycle and rarely impact outbreaks dramatically.

Mutations can also make a virus either more or less virulent. A common idea is that virulence will only change — either upwards or downwards — if it increases the transmission rate of the virus, which effectively means an increase in the number of virus ‘offspring’. However, high virulence may (although by no means always) reduce transmissibility if the host is too sick to expose others.

This is the second really good article by him. Puts it into perspective along with some biting sarcasm. Love it.

28 June: Substack: Follow the science: ‘Deadly’ Delta variant registers a 99.9+% recovery rate
We should celebrate, not fear, Delta dominance.
by Jordan Schachtel
https://dossier.substack.com/p/follow-the-science-deadly-delta-variant

Doctors Risch and McCullough were on “Ingraham Angle” today (hosted by Ben Domenech).

both say Delta is the weakest of the variants so far. virtually no deaths. just bad flu or cold symptoms. both criticise the alarmist propaganda.

Risch says it’s important Delta spreads through the population as fast as possible to build on immunity.

sounds right to me.

Viruses are smart enough not to mutate so much that they kill off the host
Hopefully our vaxxx designers already working on “ boosters’ are that smart too

Prof Green segment from 14min20sec to 23min. masks forever, at least seasonally.

talk of Delta “fleeting” contact infection begins at 21min. says not likely; viruses require protracted exposure:

AUDIO: 53min: 28 June: BBC World Service OS
Professor Manfred Green is a medical doctor and professor of epidemiology in the school of public health at the University of Haifa in Israel, and he will be joining us to discuss the latest news and research about the virus...

26 June: news.com.au: Australia’s ‘fleeting’ virus spread claim disputed
The word “fleeting” has been used to describe the way the Delta covid variant is spreading in Australia. But WHO experts say that might be wrong.
by Rohan Smith
As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, World Health Organisation officials are not convinced there is enough evidence to say covid can spread within five seconds.

Dr Mike Ryan, director of WHO’s Health Emergencies Program, told a news conference from Geneva on Saturday morning that more work needed to be done to analyse the speed of spread.
“How much virus do you need to be contaminated by or inhale before you reach a dose that causes you to have an infection?” Dr Ryan said.

“That’s not even known for the previous strains and it’s not fully understood for these newer strains — Delta strain included.”...

17 June: CNBC: The fast-spreading delta Covid variant could have different symptoms, experts say
by Holly Ellyatt; CNBC’s Rich Mendez contributed reporting to this story.
But the delta variant appears to be provoking a different range of symptoms, according to experts...
Tim Spector, a professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, runs the Zoe Covid Symptom study, an ongoing U.K.-based study which enables the public to enter their Covid symptoms on an app when enables scientists to then analyze the data.

“Covid is also acting differently now,” Spector noted in a YouTube briefing last week. “It’s more like a bad cold in this younger population and people don’t realize that and that hasn’t come across in any of the government information.”...

“Since the start of May, we have been looking at the top symptoms in the app users and they are not the same as they were,” he said. “The number one symptom is headache, then followed by sore throat, runny nose and fever.” More “traditional” Covid symptoms such as a cough and loss of smell were much rarer now he said, with younger people experiencing much more of a bad cold or “funny off feeling.”...

We are already done with the delta variant.

It's on to Kappa and Lambda.

They can't call it COVID-20 because it would be too obvious that it's all been a Scamdemic that they intend to run yearly, so they call it a Delta an Indian "variant".

How many variants of coronaviruses have been around for the last thousand years?

Hopefully the Indian variant (”delta” for the sheeple and leftist media) is as good of a sequel as Speed 2: Cruise Control (which is to say, irrelevant in the grand scheme of history).

I stated on another thread, coronaviruses, rhinoviruses, and the flu mutate and circle the globe forever.

There is no end to this.

If you look around at the Europe numbers...it might be true that it’s easier to pass around. But in terms of serious situations where you need hospitalization or ICU help...it’s not that level of a ‘problem’.

This chatter for example in Germany, where you might go into a country (for vacation) where Delta is evident....they are suggesting that you ought to do the PCR test when you fly back in, and then take five full days at home (quarantine), then retake the PCR test again. It’s a ridiculous amount of effort and wasted leave time.

Apparently hay fever suffered are confused as the symptoms for the Delta variant are exactly the same.

Conservative thinking about the virus runs into some mutually contradictory perspectives.

1. The virus was created by the Chinese and got out of that lab in Wuhan, either intentionally or accidentally. Regardless of which, it is an artificial virus. It is not natural.

2. This causes a great deal of difficulty in contorting thinking about natural immunity. The folks who lose their jobs and have had their livelihoods smashed understandably are those who want no restrictions and rationalize natural immunity to be the solution to the problem, just as it has solved virus problems for thousands of years. Of course, there is no particular precedent for natural immunity defending against an unnatural virus. Nor did natural immunity solve the smallpox virus. Only artificial immunity did that.

3. Delta is not an endpoint. It will continue to mutate. The vast majority of those mutations will be no threat to anyone. But the problem we face now, globally, is there are trillions upon trillions of virus particles in the world and they are translating into trillions upon trillions of mutations. Yes, the vast majority of those are of no interest and no threat. But it only takes one every few months to get worse and worse and worse. Make no mistake about this. Extinction is possible.
