Facebook has hit $1 trillion in market capitalization.

Facebook stock spiked nearly 5% in late-day trading aided by a favorable legal ruling that dismissed an antitrust complaint brought by the FTC.

The social media company is the fifth U.S. company to hit the milestone, joining Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google-parent company Alphabet.

The juggernaut rolls on. I guess Fauxcohantas, The Squad, and Commie Sanders won't be too pleased.

Disappointed in this news. Facebook has been snuffed out as censoring our free speech. Facebook’s ‘fact checking’ has been snuffed out as hypocritical. Why the increase?

I’v never been on Facebook. Have no idea how they make money. What do they sell? Do you have to pay a fee to open an account?

How are they worth 1 trillion?

It’s madness, total madness.

I'm not on Facebook either but I follow the tech industry.

It's all about the advertising. Everything you do on Facebook is monitored and Facebook will ensure you see plenty of targeted ads based on where you go and what you talk about (and they get paid handsomely for it).

Google has similar business model except they have a lot more going for them in other spaces, such as cloud computing services and web hosting.

Amazing how efficiently they can turn our personal information into money.

Just how much of that fortune comes from wealthy leftist donors who then expect facebook to censor thoughts they don’t like?

Not bad for a company that does not produce anything.

The one trillion is not from donations its from the purchase of shares of a company’s stock. The term “market capitalization” means that if Facebook sold every share of its stock at today’s closing price, those shares of stock would be worth $1 Trillion.

At least it has an advertising revenue driven business model, unlike Tesla which is the most overvalued enterprise of the past decade.
