A National Institutes of Health study has found that using marijuana might increase the risk of suicidal ideation and attempts to self harm, even among those with no history of depression.

The study, titled "Associations of Suicidality Trends With Cannabis Use as a Function of Sex and Depression Status," was published in the journal of the American Medical Association on Tuesday. It involved face-to-face household interviews as part of the 2008-2019 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health conducted by researchers with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The National Institute on Drug Abuse sponsored the research as part of the NIH.

What the researchers found was that men who used marijuana daily and suffered from depression had an increase in suicidal ideation from 14.9% (2008-2009) to 21.9% (2018-2019), and 10.3% (2008-2009) to 17% (2018-2019), among non-daily users.

According to the findings, women who used marijuana also appeared to have a greater associated risk of suicidal ideation than men who used marijuana.

Makes me sleep like a baby so I do it at night. Hardly any more though.

Well, I for one, would not like to sleep like a baby, waking up every 2 hours crying with poopy pants.... just sayin.

You bring up multiple excellent points that the users would have us all ignore.

1. Mental Health associated with drugs (any drug)
2. Motivation level for work/family/life
3. Paranoia brought on by a trail of destructive behavior
4. Jail
5. Unemployment or inability to maintain employment
6. Property that is visibly left in absolute disrepair
7. Short temperament
8. Inability to articulate in normal conversation
9. Elevated anxiety levels bordering on paranoia
10. Drugs are gateways to demonic possession (Last but certainly not least)

It’s no coincidence that the states with these types of permissive drugs laws are violent cesspools.

I lived in Mexico for almost a decade in the 80s - 90s. Americans drug addictions turned that nation into a violent war zone.

Everybody that smokes this crap or uses other drugs brought over by all of the narcos has blood on their hands.

There’s no way they can ever justify that this stuff is about “freedom”. These bozos are modern day addicted slaves to a chemical that controls them.

I had a friend in High School who smokes a lot of pot. Tried to kill himself because of a bad grade, later after smoking got depressed and tried again, then a year or so later still smoking up all the time lost a job as a stock boy came home smoked up some more and killed himself.
