"Authorities are responding to Champlain Towers following a collapse of the 12-floor residential complex. There are reports of people screaming under the rubble.

Terror bombing?
I grew up in south Florida.
Before 1985, the year I left, the building code for all multi-story condos was always poured concrete decks with column support for EVERY floor.
Back then, a condo collapse could NOT happen without an explosion.

It’s early to know for sure certainly but my initial thought is design/construction flaw. If so how the hell did it get past building code inspections. Incompetence/corruption?

I dont know, dont know if the boom they heard was the collapse noise, or if it was an explosion that preceded or then morphed into the building collapse noise

I’m aware of engineering failures that involved suspended structures, but not one that involved a foundational failure.
This is a horrible situation.
