Actually on a certain level she is correct.

They trapped us all like rats for over a year. There are huge psychological impacts for what they have done to us. Ranging from extreme paranoia, fear, anxiety, depression of people normally/generally considered mentally stable.

Consider for a moment those who are criminally unstable. Consider the messaging of being non-essential, your life is non-essential. Consider this online indoctrination center called the internet. BLM messaging and defund the police messaging.

Even under the best of circumstances I would expect and anticipate to see a temporary spike in crime and even murder. Just as we see a spike in travel right now too.

Lance is wrong though about the “cause.” It isn’t about ending restrictions too early. It is the normal and natural progression of a certain element within any society after being confined for soooo long.

One part of society will celebrate in a healthy way. The other will release the pent up anxiety in a dangerous way and with total disregard.

Right now is a very dangerous time for a lot of reasons. And it is really important to not let democrats use this excuse to infringe on our Right to protect ourselves. This is being ginned up, gaslighted. Heck ...it might even have been anticipated by them...I know I anticipated it.

But the spike in crime/murders has nothing to do with Republicans lifting restrictions too early and everything to do with the Mayor not understanding the psychology of confinement for torturous lengths of time.

Interesting analysis - however if that was a significant factor over all other variables, then we would expect to see a similar spike in crime in all other areas of the state, and I doubt that is the case.

“The other will release the pent up anxiety in a dangerous way and with total disregard.”

There was an increase in street racing and street takeovers to do burnouts and stunts in metro Atlanta during 2020 and continuing into 2021, to the point that the police finally had to crack down because these activities weren’t fading away. The racing and speeding started when the highways and surface streets grew emptier because of the lockdowns and companies making their employees work remotely.
