Lets start with everybody that lives in Beverly Hills to chip in and see if they like it.

Pandering this way isn’t going to make his city any sounder, saner, or safer.
In fact, quite the opposite is likely.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.)

It will only encourage more shakedowns.

Geez Louise. Reparations for slavery is being pushed by these imbeciles.
The conditions of so many big cities are so bad, in so many ways. But these mayors deem that it is important to spend their time and effort, and eventually money, on reparations for slavery, to the exclusion of dealing with the problems of their cities.
okay then........
To: Leaning Right
This bozo might want to worry a bit more about the lack of safety in his city, the mass filthy homeless encampments in Venice, the failure of his schools and a myriad of other practical problems.

Anybody who owned slaves should be made to pay reparations...where do we find one?
To: laconic
Good points. Why is reparations for slavery deemed to be so important, when his city has so many other problems?
And can we ask, who pays and how does reparations for slavery get paid? Does LA even have a balanced budget? Is he going to budget for slave reparations and cut other spending? What’s the plan here?
To: ChicagoConservative27
Someone should explain there was never slavery in L.A. when it was part of the U.S. When California was part of Spain and then Mexico, there was slavery (up until 1829). So reparations in California should only be paid for by the descendants of Mexican Latinx. Maybe there can be a separate tax assessment on them.
To: ChicagoConservative27
So California, which was never a slave state, wants to pay reparations to people who were never slaves, with money from people who never owned slaves.
I'm second generation American. How do I file my reparation exemption?

For almost 30 years I've served as an expert witness in wrongful death cases and reparations. In the courts, reparations are determined to be those sums that would place the injured party in parity, or a place of indifference. For blacks in this country, we need to consider what the slave counterparts had as an alternative. Given that the vast majority of slaves came from Guinea at the time, we need to compare the earned incomes those blacks would have today in Guinea versus what they have here in the US. I've done the math and
blacks owe non-blacks in the US approximately $600 dollars per year for the 157 years they have been freed, and that does not include transfer payments like welfare.
So, unless this twit wakes up to the reality of things, I would like my Garcetti to start mailing me my checks as soon as possible.

Correction:
...blacks owe non-blacks in the US approximately $600 billion dollars per year for the 157 years they have been freed...
There...fixed.

I think every one of those mayors needs to be locked up for being involved in the slave trade back in the seventeen and “Juneteen” hundreds.

Average income in Guinea is 71,979,873 GNF ($7,000 USD)
So yes, those currently here are earning significantly more than if they remained there (and survived!)
Where's my check?

You can bet your favorite prayer rug that reparations are coming, nationwide. They can’t wait!
There is no possible recovery from such an action. You can bet your favorite BLM flag that there will be no end date for reparations.
