Shelby Houlihan will not compete in the U.S. Olympic track and field trials after all.
The status of Houlihan, an elite middle-distance runner who earlier this week received a four-year ban after failing a drug test, on Friday changed to “not qualified” and “not accepted” on the start lists of the Team USA trials, which begin today in Eugene, Ore.
In a statement posted to her Instagram account Friday afternoon, Houlihan said a Swiss Federal Tribunal had failed to grant her request for an emergency order that might have let her run in the Olympic trials. That attempt at an injunction came after the Court of Arbitration for Sport initially rejected her appeal of her failed doping test.

“I am told that appeals of this kind are difficult to win, but I continue to believe that the truth will prevail,” she wrote.
As of Thursday, Houlihan was still listed on the start lists for the 1,500 and 5,000 meter races, in which she holds the American records, despite the doping ban. USA Track and Field officials hadn’t ruled out her participation. But on Friday, an official for USA Track and Field confirmed to The Wall Street Journal that Houlihan would not compete at the trials.
Houlihan’s saga began Monday night, when she announced in a videoconference that she’d received the doping ban after a sample she provided during a Dec. 15, 2020, test had turned up positive for a steroid called nandrolone. She blamed the test failure on tainted pork meat in a burrito she said she ate the night before the test.
She, her lawyer and coaches at the Nike-sponsored Bowerman Track Club insisted she was innocent. A 2016 Olympian, Houlihan was a favorite to qualify for the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which begin July 23.

I'm going to have to remember that.
Once I ran for you
Now I run from you
This tainted pork you’ve given
I gave you all a girl could give you
Take my tears and that’s not nearly....ALL
Tainted pork
...to Burritos.
Bob Baffert should stick to training horses.
Let’s see if I have this right. So taking a banned substance that might provide a very minor improvement in performance is bad, yet males pretending to be females, with a huge performance advantage, is good?
Which is why if the Olympics is ever held again in the US will be very interesting and entertaining.
She looks like Gollum. Gross. Not sure she qualifies as human.
Looks like a dude to me. Guilty
“..tainted pork meat in a burrito she said she ate the night before the test. ..”
All the guys who came up hot on the Army’s drug test in the late 70’s always tried to blame it on those buns that had seeds on top.
Yeah, right :)
Boo Hoo go have a Burrito
How long does that pork meat residuals last in one’s body?
