For Juneteenth, America needs a new flag that all of us can honor
Marketwatch ^ | 6/18/21 | Macy Gray

The Confederate battle flag, which was crafted as a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery, is just recently tired. We don’t see it much anymore. However, on the 6th, when the stormers rained on the nation’s most precious hut, waving Old Glory — the memo was received: the American flag is its replacement.

President Biden, Madame Harris and members of Congress: the American flag has been hijacked as code for a specific belief. God bless those believers, they can have it. Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect. It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag.

Incorrect? Let’s look to the stars. There are 50, where there should be 52. D.C. and Puerto Rico have been lobbying for statehood for decades. Both have been denied, since statehood would allow each territory’s elected officials seats in the house.

Assuming D.C. reps would be African-American and Puerto Rican reps would be Hispanic, the ultimate assumption is that these elected officials would be Democratic. That alone is racist.

On to the stripes. The Smithsonian documents that the “white” stripes represent purity and innocence. America is great. It is beautiful. Pure, it ain’t. It is broken and in pieces.

What if the stripes were OFF-white? What if there were 52 stars to include D.C. and Puerto Rico? What if the stars were the colors of ALL of us — your skin tone and mine — like the melanin scale? The blue square represents vigilance and perseverance; and the red stripes stand for valor. America is all of those things. So, what if those elements on the flag remained? What if the flag looked like this?

Also I think Macy Gray’s flag leaves out LGBT people. Why should the flag stars represent different levels of pigmentation? It is impossible for any sort if fair representation because even cosmetics like Il Makiage have 50 shades, so who gets the remaining two stars? No, better to go with the rainbow flag colors in the stars. They vivid enough, though I suppose you will run into trouble with blue.

Frankly, all of this Identity Politics is starting to feel like the neighbors left their Christmas lights up too long. I’m starting to feel like decorating the sad little faded and flickering little half burned out lights with stuff from the other holidays, you know, brighten things up a little and make it more democratic.

Why not have a star for the State of Jefferson, along with a star for the US Virgin Islands and a star for Guam, which didn't flip over. Oh, why not the hammer and sickle while we are at it.

The moronic author of that article is smoking wacky tobacky!! 🤓

The “writer” of this CBS “Market Watch” page article is an absolute NOBODY of the music biz who won 1 grammy and claims to be an “R&B” artist— with product that is difficult to categorize as authentic R&B.

Macy Gray. out for any publicity to make political hay and foist an audience. And prove complete idiocy and stupidity.

Puerto Rico does Not want to become a state— they like not paying income taxes for money they earn in PR, for one thing. For a second— the assimilation of the dems efforts to get this as a state— is to ADD even more huge debt to the US table. Not going to happen.

You want the actual flag of the Woke, based on what they stand for, and how they act? Here ya go. . .

Now if the stars represent states then having them a specific color will completely misrepresent their population and further offend the perpetually offended.

Idiotic idea. Stars and Stripes forever!

I think as with Kwanzaa, only white elementary school teachers know about it.

“Replacing the stars with marijuana leaves and the stripes with a rainbow of injection needles.”

One of the stars could be replaced with the tiny image of an aborted fetus; another star replaced by a welfare check; another by a burning police station; another by a face covering; and so forth and so on.

Yes, the battle flag was used to be easily recognizable in battle. The first national flag of the Confederacy looked too much like the US flag and soldiers could confuse them in the smoke of battle.

Of course the Confederate battle flag incorporates the St. Andrew's flag which is problematic in itself. Andrew was a fisherman before he was summoned to be an apostle, which meant that he killed fish and sold their carcasses for money...innocent sentient vertebrates who were simply enjoying their lives in the Sea of Galilee. At the very least Andrew was a species-ist but it's better to admit that he was simply a cold-blooded killer (of cold-blooded fish).

The Flag I fought and bled under will work just fine for me as it always has.

Any others get about as much attention as the rainbow stripe flag worthy only of removing the mud from my shoes.

Easiest way for Macy to live under another flag is to move. I’ll hold the door.

I see Ms Gray has blond highlights in her hair. She needs to quit lecturing others and check her cultural appropriation.
