Republicans point to inflation in bid to retake Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) — Gas prices have whizzed past $3 per gallon in much of the nation. The cost of used cars and new furniture, airline tickets, department store blouses, ground beef and a Chipotle burrito are on the rise, too.

Many economists say the price increases are fueled by the aftereffects of a global pandemic and probably won’t last. But Republicans are hoping to storm into next year’s midterm elections arguing that steep government spending under President Joe Biden and a Democratic-controlled Congress has triggered inflation that will ultimately hurt everyday Americans.

Republicans have nonetheless intensified warnings that inflation is surging and they blame the $1.9 trillion stimulus that congressional Democrats pushed through Congress. Charges that profligate federal spending is overheating the economy are growing louder from the right as lawmakers hammer out a sweeping infrastructure package.

Inflation jitters could end up resonating more with voters than many cultural issues Republicans raised in the opening months of Biden’s term.

Classic “Republicans pounce” piece from Associated Press. See, the *real* problem isn’t the hyperinflation but rather Republicans complaining about the hyperinflation. Got it?

To me running on inflation is a terrible idea, everyone knows it’s happening but it’s a symptom of a much bigger problem...

Part of the Trump magic was running on 2-3 key issues that no one else was talking about and he made it fun and easy to understand.....

Well, if we can’t retake both houses after Biden’s Infamous Rolling Shit Show, then we’re done as a party and a country.

By no means will I defend the Stupid Party but it doesn’t help that the Fed Reserve, which is mostly PDJT appointees, has been perfectly willing to crank up the printing press to cover the spending of His Fraudulency and the Rat Traitors in Congress.

“Worthless republicans doing nothing again.”

They did not do anything about Obama Care when they had control of the House and Senate. Can I really expect them to anything about inflation?

And the RINOs did not like those key issues and still don't. Running on inflation is exactly what a RINO would do because of the hope that they can distract the voters from their fascination with the problems Trump has been focused on solving.

Maybe the dems have tanked the country, but buying the GOPeers another round at their country club is not going to rescue us.

Just went to our local Amish market. Until Biden is out of office spare ribs are off the menu. A rack of ribs cost over $25.00

The GOP has done nothing but go along with the slow slide toward socialism for some 80 years.

It's like when Newt got a majority by running on his Contract with America, which was pretty much dead by the morning after as the newly elected GOPeee was yelling Yeehaww and loading up on campaign contributions while converting democratic pork barreling to republican pork barreling.

RINOs are basically Democrat Lite, basically run as a Republican when it would be much more difficult to run Democrat....

John McCain is the perfect example, when he first ran for Senate in Arizona, he needed to be a Republican to win, but voted as a Liberal....

"Republicans are hoping to storm into next year’s midterm elections"

I'm certain the use of "storm" was innocent . . .

The way the the Fed is printing money, and Biden and Congress are spending money - you ain't seen nothing yet.

A $15 minimum wage won't help the Democrats much if a Big Mac costs $200.

No, the problem is Republicans whining about a problem and screaming my turn with no intention of sliding their butts of their bar stools and going out and doing anything about anything.

Here’s the problem: Republicans run on all kinds of things, and don’t DO anything. The GOP official slogan should be, “We aren’t as bad as the Democrats”.

Trump made things happen, and dragged the GOP along kicking and screaming.

The GOP would rather be back benchers, not responsible, but still cashing in.

Re-electing the same Assistant Democrats that got us here is insanity.

We need a thorough House and Senate cleaning.

Yep!! Goodness And taking the highroad doesn’t get you nowhere when you’re fighting evil demonic people. Besides the rats already have the votes to pass the HR1 bill which will give them domination over all elections in the near future. So don’t count on retaking Congress it ain’t gonna happen. Unless “IF” the Republicans immediately take some sort of action but I doubt it they are spineless coward RINOS!

The leftist fundamental transformation of America into the toilet ought to be enough for a landslide win, barring election cheating and Republican apathy.
