What a terrible thing to happen to the young woman. Her family and friends have my deepest sympathy.
(Describing her as “the next Oprah” is probably not the best way to get total strangers to care.)
Gonna need a bigger planet.
She was going to be a billionaire.
Strong winds is an act of God. I canโt see how the could win, but then again In America today we elect a senile old guy as our leader so anything can happen.
The lawsuit is a good start.
The manufacturer of the gate and/or contractor who installed it may have a problem here, but even in that case they sure as hell don't have $270 million of liability insurance coverage.
I predict someone's insurance carrier is going to write a check for several million dollars, and that will be the end of this lawsuit.
She seemed like a lovely lady... what an unbelievably bad set of circumstances where for a few inches, she would have been untouched. I wondered what the gate looked like... more information at this link. https://www.fox13now.com/news/fox-13-investigates/fox-13-investigates-family-sues-over-death-of-woman-killed-in-arches-national-park
Gates be created by White racists and designed to kill BIPOCs.
Human rights activist?
I’m skeptical about this one.
How is the park department responsible for something like this?
Too bad it wasn’t the real Oprah.
June 13, 2020...
National Parks weren’t closed due to CoupFlu?
As am I. Her death (may she rest in peace) sounds like it was lifted from the plot of the ๐๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ฆ๐ด๐ต๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ films. If true, strange times.
She wasn’t even fat, so how could she be the future Oprah?
If they were trespassing, there goes the case.
The story is all over the web. Not much detail about how it happened, just that she was decapitated.
Next Oprah? Nonsense.
There is something missing from the story.
This is certainly a horrific accident, and it does sound like the Park service was at fault. However, this very short passage mentions this โfuture Oprahโ idea a total of EIGHT times? Isnโt it tragic enough that the woman died in this manner, regardless of what someone thought her potential was?
