North Korean defector says 'even North Korea was not this nuts' after attending Ivy League school
Fox News ^ | 06/14/2021 | Teny Sahakian

As American educational institutions continue to be called into question, a North Korean defector fears the United States' future "is as bleak as North Korea" after she attended one of the country's most prestigious universities.

Yeonmi Park has experienced plenty of struggle and hardship, but she does not call herself a victim.

One of several hundred North Korean defectors settled in the United States, Park, 27, transferred to Columbia University from a South Korean university in 2016 and was deeply disturbed by what she found.

"I expected that I was paying this fortune, all this time and energy, to learn how to think. But they are forcing you to think the way they want you to think," Park said in an interview with Fox News. "I realized, wow, this is insane. I thought America was different but I saw so many similarities to what I saw in North Korea that I started worrying."

Those similarities include anti-Western sentiment, collective guilt and suffocating political correctness.

Yeonmi saw red flags immediately upon arriving at the school.

During orientation, she was scolded by a university staff member for admitting she enjoyed classic literature such as Jane Austen.

"I said ‘I love those books.’ I thought it was a good thing," recalled Park.

"Then she said, 'Did you know those writers had a colonial mindset? They were racists and bigots and are subconsciously brainwashing you.’"

I don’t think the commissars and party apparatchiks are actually more benevolent than the faculty of Columbia University; they don’t have to indoctrinate because they already have all the power.

This young woman has an excellent YouTube channel called: “Voice of North Korea by Yeonmi Park.” It’s well worth a look.

When people who lived under communism and socialism tell you THIS IS COMMUNISM AND SOCIALISM, you should take notice.

Even regular Marxists/Communists do not embrace the insane, destructive ethos now accepted into American life.

You are correct. Back in the early '80s, I had a couple of prep school teachers who were openly socialist/Marxist (social studies, history), but they taught the material straight and invited well thought-out responses and questions. There were also other teachers who balanced them out, and those teachers got along with each other. I did notice that my classmates had more of the sneering true believer posture, and one who was a couple of years ahead of me wound up being a good bureaucrat writing utopianist documents for Euro-think tanks. His younger brother, my high school friend, remained hard left himself, but is merely cynical. It has gone downhill from there.

Columbia is about the same today as it was in the late 50’s and beyond...
The communist infestation was already advanced by 1960 and the war in Viet Nam sent it over the tipping point by 1970...

Now that the communists are in control of the country, indoctrination institutions like Columbia are just more open and public about their communism...

The problem is that knowing it leads to misery and death is not something that means anything to them. We always accept the idea that communists and socialists seek to better the lot of man.

They are about one thing only... power. When they see people suffer because of their decisions, they see it as proof of how much power they possess over them. They are like a rapist who enjoys the victim begging for mercy. Also they believe those they brutalize are getting their just desserts.

Regular Americans have never embraced it either. We are just not allowed to shoot the bas-tards on sight.

From the thread: Columbia professor: I do heroin regularly for ‘work-life balance’ This is the school that enabled a study by professor and students that seemed determined to show that the division btwn chips apes and humans ("We only differ 1.5 percent in our DNA; a chimp is 98.5 percent human. ." they trumpet) is only nurture, not nature,

Herbert Terrace, a Columbia University behavioral psychologist (who still teaches and conducts research at Columbia) and the grand architect of the project, planned to raise a chimpanzee in a human home, with no other contact with other chimpanzees, and begin instructing him in sign language from infancy. Days after his birth, Terrace scooped up the infant Nim, flew him to New York, and had him placed, like a foster child, in the home of the LaFarges, asking the family to instruct the chimp in American Sign Language. Not a single member of the household was fluent, or even competent, in sign language. The LaFarges were wealthy, eccentric hippies—W.E.R., a pony-tailed and put-upon poet, and Stephanie, a former student and lover of Terrace’s—with a Brady-Bunch-sized family who lived in a brownstone on the Upper West Side. And wait—it gets weirder.

It's Romans 1. See rest of post here.
