What to Do With a Lawless IRS? The leak of thousands of American tax records should alarm anyone who cares about the rule of law and a right to privacy.

The leak of thousands of American tax records — including those of some of our richest citizens — should alarm anyone who cares about the rule of law and a right to privacy.

The unknown person or organization who leaked the documents may have been a “state actor,” according to ProPublica, the left-wing news outlet that published the information. That explanation was almost certainly designed to throw us off the trail. The far more likely scenario is that an IRS employee with direct access to the records compiled the information and then went venue shopping. They looked for a news outlet that cares more about the Democrats’ political agenda of raising taxes on those who don’t “pay their fair share” than about the law or the rights of individuals.

The left was positively gleeful about the leak, believing that the rubes in flyover country would now get behind the Biden tax increases after seeing how little many of the richest among us pay the IRS.

Kimberley Strassel:

The ProPublica story was a moralizing snoozefest, thousands of words (and the threat of more installments) to explain that the U.S. tax code allows deductions for loan interest, charitable giving and business expenses, and that the nation’s elite actually use these deductions. Also, ProPublica informs us that people don’t pay tax on capital gains until they realize capital gains. The nation’s liberal and social media nonetheless spent the week dutifully pretending the story was a blockbuster exposé breaking the news that the wealthy don’t pay their “fair” share, while Democrats renewed calls for higher taxes.

This is a case of the permanent bureaucracy assisting the elected president because they agree with him ideologically. IRS officials can deny their involvement from here to kingdom come and not convince anyone that they don’t agree

The Federal Government (IRS, etc.) is the enemy of the American people.

We should start with a public stoning of Lois Lerner. Then hang the bitch for the buzzards.

RE: We should start with a public stoning of Lois Lerner

She’s comfortably retired with her 6 figure yearly pension.

In the meantime, nothing ever came of her being charged with contempt of Congress.

The Federal Government (IRS, etc.) is the enemy of the American people.

It is completely incompetent, and/or evil. Every action by the bureaucracy is to bloat the bureaucracy at the expense and suffering of the American People.

"A government of the people by the people..." How quaint!

If we did that I’d call it a good start.

We would also run out of light poles and buzzards.

Its entirely possible it wasn’t the IRS who leaked them.

The “deep state” has access to nearly every communication device and computer in America. IRS is part of Fed.gov, so I have no doubt their systems were built for easy access for any rogue intelligence agency who knows the back-doors.

Lois Lerner will be joined by Anthony Fauci in retirement with a full pension, a lecture series and books that will make millions for them.

Warren Buffett and loyal members of the communist party are in no jeopardy.

Donald Trump, the Koch Brothers and anyone who has opposed the Politburo will be targeted by the mobs using this information.

This is an enemies list.

When did the leak occur?

Has it anything to do with the official letters being received saying to contact the IRS to prove ones identity?

Funny.

The various leaks of Trump’s supposed taxes were no big deal.

Bezos and Musk? Major big deal

The leak is reprehensible. Not that I believe the wealthy should be exempt from taxes, but this leak "story" is deliberately written to conflate wealth and income to create the impression the wealthy offenders don't pay enough income taxes. Here's the original story...https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax

It is pretty easy to track file accesses on a modern server. Between that and having the files of the rich and famous being protected so the common IRS drone can't just browse through Warren Buffet's tax return means the IRS should have already matched the released forms with who accessed and copied all of them. If they aren't already frog-marching the employee who did this over to the FBI means that this release and privacy violation must be considered an official action by the IRS.

Either an employee seriously broke the law and will be prosecuted or the IRS as a whole did this.

I don’t like saying this, but even in the 90’s, to early 2000’s, the mindset of federal employees I interacted with, was one of untouchability, unless they directly caused fatal harm to another American!!

So, now having said that, and with all this article says, it would not surprise me that John Q. and Jane Q. Public, have discovered that IRS workers do NOT reside in that Tower of Tax, all their lives, but haves lives and errands outside of it, making it conceivable and possible for John and Jane “to show them their love for the IRS”.

Simple answer, institute a national sales tax. Amend the constitution to repeal the 16 amendment, amended the constitution to eliminate the ability of congress to write tax law, amend the constitution to set the sales tax rate at say 10%. Then dissolve theIRS. Won’t hold my breath.

this make the old “spoils system” look not so bad. Civil service laws have been misused to enable and protect these tyrants.
