Don’t give away the farm to appease Republicans.
That was essentially the message Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., repeatedly delivered this week as the White House tried to negotiate with Republicans on a compromise to the Biden administration’s massive $2 trillion infrastructure plan, which includes many provisions that would aim to address climate change.
Heinrich, during a virtual conference call hosted by Climate Power on Wednesday and a press call Thursday, went so far as to suggest that he and other Democrats may not support the president’s plan if it gets too watered down during ongoing negotiations.
“We just cannot allow this opportunity to pass us by,” he said. “We should not allow ourselves to get so bogged down in bad-faith negotiations, or to accept deals that would frankly short change or entirely leave out meaningful climate action.”
Politico reported this week that the Biden administration may leave out some climate provisions in the infrastructure plan in order to get a bill passed. Heinrich tweeted the political magazine’s report and said an infrastructure bill that “goes light on climate and clean energy should not count on every Democratic vote.”
“If you’re going to pass an infrastructure plan, there aren’t many Republicans on the table. So you are going to need every single Democratic vote to pass an infrastructure plan,” Heinrich said. “I think there is little appetite in our caucus for an infrastructure plan that ignores the greatest crisis, the most existential crisis, that we face.”

Heinrich is another radical environmental ideologue who believes rainbows and unicorns will provide our energy to say nothing of the damage that windmills and solar panels do to wildlife and are a plague on the scenic environment. New Mexico politicians Heinrich, [Interior Secretary] Haaland and [NM-1 Rep] Stansbury are as far left as you can get in all their positions beyond just the environment. They were all elected by the liberal/far left constituency in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, many from the east and west coast who brought their belief that government knows best for you when they moved to the state and began converting the locals to their way of thinking.

That’s why we call it Fanta Se.

NM was made into NJ of the Southwest. This is the model of what’s left remaining of so called “red” states with the current libtard migration out of the cities and high tax states. BTW,conservative states used to be called blue but the left suckered us to switch that. They are on a mission from hell.
He’s up in ‘24-ok? He doesn’t have to worry about us so why bother?
I dunno whether that statement indicts the transplants more, or the locals.
For instance, why are your locals being converted that easily, when they should be able to see through the nonsense from the coastals who think that their meat comes from the grocery store?
Just another leftist doing what leftists do best: ruining everything that they touch.
Global Warming PING!
If you ever visit Santa Fe, that will answer a lot of your questions.
And we thought Udall and Bingaman were bad.
If these people are allowed to determine policy living standards will go back several decades, minimum.
I’m not actually shocked. Every state, even among the good ones, usually has at least two liberal hellholes: the state capitol and some other big city. With NM, it’s Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
Somehow, city living seems to lend itself to leftist politics, maybe because those places are way too peopley for most residents to see that liberty can still apply well.
Go back a couple of centuries more like.
He’s been there since 2013. Why?
He doesn’t even live in NM anymore but Silver Springs MD (where I grew up back in the 70’s).
Don’t Senators have to maintain a residence in the state they represent.

Remove ALL the items made with or part of fossil fuels-—he won’t even have a toothbrush.
NO car-—No power for his home—no lubrication for anything that has moving parts—no anything.
I’m sure he does on some sort of technicality.
