“Someone sneezed in my face on a bus in Bermuda some years ago and as a result I got quite sick. I wish I had been wearing a mask, and in future I will be when in public.”

You have no way of knowing if that sneeze was how you caught whatever you caught. Pure supposition.

You are right, I am only 99.99% certain. It’s the only time I’ve been sick in the past 30 years.

The idea that dose matters a lot goes back to Paracelsus, the father of toxicology, in the 16th century. It is similar with infectious agents.

By all means, you go without a mask and get sick, and I will wear my mask in public and stay well. It’s fine with me. That’s freedom in action.
