A lion has died from Covid-19 at an Indian zoo where eight others also tested positive for the virus.

The state-run zoo on the outskirts of the south Indian city of Chennai announced the nine-year-old Asiatic lion's death on Friday.

'A 9-year old lioness Neela succumbed to the disease on the evening of 3rd June,' the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, also known as Vandalur Zoo, said.

The outbreak was first observed on Thursday when the lioness 'showed some nasal discharge'. The others appear to have been asymptomatic.

The affected animals have been quarantined and given antibiotics. They are under observation by the zoo's veterinary team and an expert team from Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

There have been various coronavirus cases reported in animals, including two white tiger cubs thought to have died from the virus in Pakistan.

Lions have also tested positive in Spain and two other Indian cities, including Hyderabad, where eight lions tested positive last month at Nehru Zoological Park.

The Lion Variant is far more aggressive than regular COVID.

This is not good. Animals and humans could pass Covid-19 back and forth, for ever.

Died WITH the virus or died OF the virus?

Makes a difference.

China and whoever help fund this virus and let it get released from their lab needs to pay, but of course they won’t. f**ers.

“The affected animals have been quarantined and given antibiotics.”

Antibiotics alone don’t work on viruses, only on related infections. Give the lions Ivermectin.

Remember when they tried to claim our house pets were carriers? Panic mongering.

Actually, I happen to be a believer in that fear porn, because I’ve read the research.

I believe that the CCP researchers masked the genetic modifications with passaging experiments, using palm civets (feline) and other lab animals’ cultured cells. It’s why cats & ferrets are carriers. The pangolin dna is another lab-origin clue.

I believe that this was an unintentional release from a developing bioweapons program, that they were developing the technology (ironically with NIAID support) pursuant to an officially-sanctioned, heinous goal.

I also believe that an official conclusion of a lab origin under a weak, CCP-biased administration will have terrible results. I can only hope that such an ‘investigation’ will take as long as Durham’s, because in the short term I foresee a deal with the devil.
