"Manchin and another centrist, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), have created irksome obstacles within their own caucus, and Democrats have yet to land on a strategy for dealing with the internal dissent." "A vocal portion of the party believes that challenging Manchin and Sinema from the left is the best way forward."

Wow, you really are a complete moron.
Manchin absolutely CRUSHED Paula Jean Swearengin in the 2018 primary with nearly 70% of the vote.
By the way, are “assault weapon” bans Constitutional or not? Refusal to answer speaks volumes.
Fort Marcy Park about to get another resident...
The democrats don’t give a Shiff what the electorate wants.
They will cram their agenda down our throats unless we tip the scales. If they push Manchin, the Senate could be back to 51-49 before the midterms.
Democrats don’t handle dissent within the party very well. They will find a way to punish those who get out of step with the others.
When it comes to being a complete moron I'll defer to your experise in that area.
Manchin absolutely CRUSHED Paula Jean Swearengin in the 2018 primary with nearly 70% of the vote.
And your point is? You think Manchin would take 70% of the vote if he switched to the Republicans?
Oh and to head off any nonsense, Jim Justice survived the primary challenge just fine after his party switch from D to R.
Manchin switching to R would guarantee his win in 2024.
if manchin flipped, we’d just slime him as a rino, and insist that we oust him in the next primary.
I’ve heard that from people for some time. (Specifically from someone who has worked in his various campaigns.) I think the “triangulation strategy” day has come and gone. This is not 1992. The voting demographics are very different. I think held dreaming. If you got to have a delusion you might as well have a big one.
Jim Justice got 63% in his Republican primary after his party switch.
So yes, Manchin could pull 70.
Are “assault weapon” bans constitutional or not? I will take ignoring this as a yes and will make sure that your position is made clear.
That didn’t work with Justice.
he just hasn’t stumbled into the cross hairs yet.
The rumor was he almost did that to run against Justice when just ran for his second term. For whatever reason he decided not to. It depends who the state GOP gets to run against him. In his last Senate run the GOP’er was too easily painted as a carpetbagger.
Right now it seems he trying taken on the mantle of the new Byrd. We shall see.
Clinton only won because Perot siphoned a huge number of votes from RINO Bush.
He had a primary in 2020 and cruised to reelection. Several of his opponents tried the RINO party switch attack and it didn’t work.
Democrats don’t handle dissent within the party very well. They will find a way to punish those who get out of step with the others.
Or maybe Manchin is part of the plan? Little is to be gained now for the Dems going full radical. They’ll lose the House in the midterms if they do that because power in the House will be decided in a few centrist/right of center districts. Better for Dems to tell their base they really really tried to pass HR1 but Manchin blocked it. Meanwhile, they’ll face no Obamacare style blow back and potentially keep full control of Congress.
when I said “we”, I meant FR. people praying for his conversion today will happily crucify him 10 minutes after he flips parties.
that’s just how “we” roll.
Gotcha.
Senator Manchin is the greatest American alive today with a backbone made of Iron. He’ll remain the greatest forever.
