Ron DeSantis may have other ideas. VP is not a great position, he has much more visibility and capability to make a difference as a governor. VP position is basically neutered, mostly ceremonial. If DeSantis wins again in 2022, he would be well positioned to run for President in 2024. And I think that would be great.

I like Trump but here is what I am thinking.
Trump makes a better king maker and team organizer.

$$$$$$$$$$$$

I completely agree. Desantis/Noem 2024, with Trump barnstorming for them all the way.

Trump can be Governor of FL to replace DeSantis.

DeSantis 2024. Trump is too old at this point. The GOP needs new blood for the coming party purge and remaking of America.

I like Trump and I’ll vote for him if he runs, but I’d rather see him free to be him outside of DC while two of his supporters are out taking the flak in DC and in the media. Those three could do a whole lot of socialist head messing!!

Scott/DeSantis 2024

Trump should run for Rep out of Florida (there’s a new seat because our population has grown) so that he can be Speaker in the next session, which is surely going to be swept by a red wave.

I doubt very much that the GOPe would make Trump speaker. They’d put him in an office in the basement, deny him committee seats, and maybe even refuse to seat him. Same as the Dems would have done, because they are the same thing really.

I’d like to see voter ID and no more mail in voting before the next election. Anyway, you’re right, Trump is the lead name recognition and no way Trump would be Veep, he’s just too “bigly.”

I do feel sorry for Florida if something like this happens. You can bet there are plenty of infiltrators prepped and waiting in the wings to take over as governor. Florida will have a Cuomo in no time.

It’s too bad Abbott cannot be as bold as De Santis. Otherwise, he would make a fine running mate for Trump, without the unconstitutional same-state issue.

Why am I getting the vibe of Florida repeating Alabama when Trump pulled Sessions from the state?

For that to happen, Florida would then have to run an arch-conservative pervert for Governor.

He’s talking both about this August and 2024 ? I get it’s really hard to have a plan about anything right not but this is really strange.

Thanks! That would clear the way, but then FL’s electors would likely pick either Trump or De Santis and one of the Democrats (shudder).

I don’t know about the “Trump being too old” stuff.
He has more energy than most 45 year old men.
His policies were GREAT.
We were ON TRACK to the world’s greatest!
World leaders may not all have liked him, but they respected him.
He’s an alpha male and you do not mess with them.
He’s smart, people love him, his kids love him.
His peace deal in the Middle East and border control KILLED the commie democrats and that’s why they killed millions to get rid of him.
If Trump runs in 2024, he has my vote.
Whatever he decides to do, he has my vote.
You can’t clear out a swamp of vipers in 4 years, but Trump was closing in.
That is when the COVID BOMBS began.
Big pharma hated him too because he was enacting price controls!
The cost of insulin is sky high and ridiculous again.
Big business hates him period because he knew too much about business and cost cutting. They wanted to exploit workers in other countries when Trump wanted good paying jobs HERE.
I think Trump needs to run again and run them ALL straight into the crap holes they crawled out of!
We had jobs! Good paying jobs!
No climate change crap fleecing us!
WHO ELSE is going to do this in spite of all of the endless shit he got????
I can’t think of a soul right now.

Where would Trump establish residency? I cannot imagine him picking the governor of his State, a battleground State, as a running mate unless he moves his residency. The Constitution requires that the President and VP be from different States.

DeSantis should seek the nomination for himself, first.

He has my support over Trump, as of now, and many others likely feel the same.

May the best man win.

Exactly. Trump would be giving up a lot of power if he said he wasn’t going to run again. He can keep it as leverage. He could do so much good either way.

Exactly (x 2).

And, the Lizards * just hate it when we GOP voters remain in solid support of Donald J. Trump.

* (Could this be a new and "woker" synonym for RINOs?)

"I like it, but Trump will have to “move” out of Florida officially before then."

Currently Trump spends Memorial Day-Novemberish at Bedminster. NJ only requires 183 days (half a year) in the state. All Trump has to do is add a few more days in NJ, apply for NJ residency, and et voila.

"Why would Trump want to be president again?"

Because there are debts to be settled...

I don’t think so. See how every candidate he picks comes through a winner. You may think he’s not popular (I don’t know where you live) but in much of the country, the GOPe is biting the dust.
