What a dutz Karen... It is common practice now to hand out the holder empty for ceremonial effect and the diploma is drop shipped in the mail from the printer about a week later to your mailbox. lol
Don't let the border gate hit you on
your north end as you head south.
Guess what? I have no problem with his wearing a Mexican flag or being proud of his heritage. This is a free country!
If he earned it he should get it. That they let him proceed on stage is on them, they should mail it to him.
Its a bad precedent for schools to be able to arbitrarily refuse to convey a diploma that was earned. Disciplinary problems should be dealt with by denying unearned things, not earned things.
I’m 1/4 Irish. My mom who is half Irish whose father was born in Naples Italy separate the shanty Irish from the lace curtain Irish. Lace curtain being higher class. Then a very Irish friend (his parents came from Ireland) said the term lace curtain Irish was also a dig as it inferred that they were dirty with lots of cob webs on the walls and ceilings. Everyone gets offended. Who cares. As a kid we would rank each other out and knew all the ethnic jokes. Nobody got so upset as to want to beat the other guy up over it. The idea was to get better jokes against their ethnicity.
Not surprising that you have no problem with our country being invaded and turned into North Mexico.
Boosting Bush League Republicans is something I’ve noticed from you.
The boy looks kind’a black to be Hispanic..
That’s stupid. Kid has a right to free speech. And he earned the diploma. He will win in court.
I should have said “Mexican”.
Good...Do it on your own time kid.
Bit of a metaphor, this.
In the case of illegals crossing the border, and earning certifications, then being denied those certifications, a better approach might be to clean up the statutory language when loopholes are detected and exploited rather than allowing a two tier justice system to exist. One set of rules for people with lawyers, and a very different system for people without lawyers. Where that leads is that any activist gets to change the country using our courts and zombie legal code, and perish the thought of judges that disagree with these shenanigans getting onto the bench.
What I have problems with is his failure to follow the rules. As I understand it, the students can decorate the mortar boards (top of their caps) any way they want but not other displays and the all graduate in the prescribed gown. These rules are laid out to the students and they are told they will not be allowed to graduate/get their diploma if they violate the rules.
Let’s look at this bother way. Suppose a different student decided he wanted to wear a Trump flag? That would cause a huge uproar and potential violence.
This seems like a reasonable rule to keep things from getting out of hand.
Well they can deny him the diploma but they can’t deny him the school credits he earned that says he has in fact graduated. I imagine the school system will have to quietly give him his diploma through their lawyer at some point. The student was being a showboating jerk of course; everyone else was following the rules, even, I’m sure other hispanic first gen graduating immigrant students.
Asheboro? Asheboro........
Nothing ever happens in Asheboro
They probably should have removed him from the line and trespassed him. Then mail him his diploma and not allow him to walk in the ceremony.
Dress code dumb a@@.
Why don't they let the Polish swim in Lake St. Clair.?? Because they leave a ring around it..!
Did you hear about the Kentuckian that Moved to West Virginia.?? The average IQ went up in both States... (snort)
I’m 100% pro Trump
“I don’t know why I should apologize because I did nothing wrong,” Lopez said.

You mean other than showing your immense disrespect for the country that took you in and gave you a FREE education? At our expense? If you want to honor “your flag”, get a flag pin and wear it on your lapel. Every day for all I care. Better yet, go back to mexico and honor “your flag”.
And nobody has said whether this idiot is legally here getting an education on our dime.
This pisses me off just as much as the dumbasses coming here in “caravans” illegally, claiming they are leaving their country because they are “oppressed”, but they have 2 people carry their flag in the front of the crowd. So if your country is that bad, you’re willing to walk over 1000 miles to get here, why do you insist on carrying your flag, a flag that takes 2 people to carry?
If I were in that position I’d burn the damn thing before I left. I’d leave flipping “my country” the finger on the way out. I’d never send a single cent back. If it’s that bad I have to walk 1000 miles to get away, whoever is dumb enough to stay there can stay there broke.
If this kid actually appreciates what we have done to pay for his education, why is he thumbing his nose at use by wearing the flag of another country? Why is he insulting us?
Oh yeah I’m forgetting, he didn’t get an education, he got a liberal indoctrination, he’s now a good little social justice warrior. On our dime. **SPIT**
I’m disgustipated.
Hey that was common practice in Binghamton,NY when I graduated in 198ish something something to get an empty binder and get the diploma in the mail a week or so later.
Perhaps some small towns in NC give out the actual diploma during the graduation...I don’t know. I don’t think they have a leg to stand on in demanding an apology from the Mexican before they give him his diploma other than holding it back a week or to just to spite the student.(though i wish they could deny it). Any court would see that the student earned the diploma by his efforts and a bit of misbehaved costume dressing may have flouted the “ceremonial” rules but the school system will find NO support in state or federal law in holding back his diploma because of it.
