77th anniversary of D-Day
May we never forget.
Back in 2018, I went on a 14-day Band of Brothers Tour sponsored by Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours...
It was fantastic, we spent 2 full days in the Normandy Area, visiting not only places where Easy Company saw action but other really fantastic areas, like Pointe Du Hoc, Ste. Mare Eglise, Pegasus Bridge, etc.....
You could easily spend a week or more in the area...
If you ever get the chance every American should go to the Normandy Area, it’s fantastic...
Excellent post, thanks.
June should be Normandy month and not faggotry.
Was there 20 years ago, a friend knew someone with a farm in that area, the barn was used to hold German prisoners, they had a good deal of military stuff, uniforms, helmets, guns. The wood framing in the barns had graffiti carvings the American soldiers had made. Had dinner on the beach - blanket de veau (veal with a cream sauce and a nice rose wine). Going to watch The Longest Day this afternoon as I always do on this day.
Went to Normandy in 2011 with the family. My dad landed at Utah beach with the 1st Special Engineering Brigade.
Highly recommended area to visit (well, at least it was when we were there). Many museums. Could easily spend a week or two there.
1944 - Young American men charging into vicious Nazi machine killing fields.
2021 - Young American men charging into safeplaces because they just viewed an offensive online tweet or post.
