no thank you.
yeh...right
No need to run for Congress to be Speaker.
Never happen. Trump would never take such a demotion.
Only one president has ever left the Oval Office to become a congressman, John Q. Adams, who disliked being president and was much more comfortable as a congressman (and MUCH more effective). He successfully fought many slave bills in Congress and eventually successfully argued the “Amistad” case at the USSC that had, as its central point, that international maritime law recognized slaves as persons in servitude, NOT as chattel property. This proved a key ruling over time as the South continued to argue that slaves were chattel property like chairs or cattle (a point reaffirmed by DemoKKKrat racist Roger Taney in the worst Supreme Court decision of all time, Dred Scott).

Who’s up for election from FL?
Good point! :-)
Better still: Run for POTUS and be elected as Speaker.
Now, THAT would be a first (I believe.) Oh Joy! how
wonderful to have that wrench ousted from her chair
cushioned withkitty liter.
BS.
Thanks for the good short history lesson. I didn’t know those things about John Q Adams.
“Now, THAT would be a first (I believe.) Oh Joy!”
Oh, yeah. Appoint Trump as Speaker. Wouldn’t that just rot their socks? Delicious!
Very interesting president. Even though he was a “republican” (pre-1856 version, which is to say, a member of the party of Monroe, Madison, and Jefferson), he was very much the last of the “old guard” that still relied on the caucus, not the popular vote, to get them elected.
No he isn’t. Fake news.
everyone.
“Never happen. Trump would never take such a demotion.”
Agreed. No way his ego could allow it. Also big opportunity cost of being bogged down in that role.
Wow, a lot of info packed in so few words. Thank you.
Speaker is hardly a power demotion. The speaker has nearly the power of a president. Look how both Ryan and Pelosi essentially ran the country from that position. One has total control of legislation and spending.
That said, I think this story is bogus.
