Texas at 'elevated risk' of energy shortages this summer: Report

Texas is bracing for a brutally hot summer and a record-breaking demand for energy.

After the winter storm in February left millions without power for days, there’s a new report warning Texas is at an “elevated risk” of energy emergencies this summer.

The new report comes from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, or NERC...

The report outlines two main concerns about the Texas power grid for this summer. Electricity reserve margins have gone down, so generation may not be able to keep up with growth in demand. The second concern is we rely heavily on wind and solar power for energy, which may not be enough to sustain the system.

No thanks to the invaders from CA and points south of the border putting more demands on our infrastructure.

Our power companies are wasting dollars on fro-frou stuff. Just the other day, our power company gave $$$$$ to spruce up a city park's gazebo.

BTW, it's 11 am and the temp is only 71. That's down right freezing from our normal June temps.

wind plus solar = blackouts in winter and summer

But they work great in spring and fall! And, they are only much more expensive than other options.

West can run for governor of Texas promising to cap property taxes, work to secure the border, and promote real energy instead of green nonsense.

I suspect that would all but guarantee a win considering his positions are popular otherwise.

I was told that it was unfair to expect these providers to generate power in the winter time.

Now apparently it is also unfair to expect them to generate power in the summer time as well.

And lets put more electric cars and autobots on the roads draining electricity.

Texas produces 43% of oil in the United States. They produce vastly more oil and natural gas than they need.

The wind can be nil and the air quite still on the high plains of West Texas in the Summer.

Windmills are a blight upon the senses and make no sense. Expensive to build, maintain, dispose of. In between all that, they’re inefficient, unreliable and too expensive per KwH.

Bad idea.
