As a COVID doctor and consultant to schools and businesses, I don’t share the opinion that it was “nothing”, or close to nothing.
But after the Diamond Princess and the USS Theodore Roosevelt events (February 1-April 2020, there was sufficient information to make a rational and safe Public Health plan to address the issue, and that is not what happened.
The premises behind the “lockdowns” and school closures were false, and the policymakers should have known they were false. The most plausible theory is that they did know, but I have no personal knowledge to prove that.
I think most of what happened after April 2020 was a coordinated, bipartisan scheme to get rid of Donald Trump, with all anti-COVID work a secondary issue.
If doing something smart, or useful, to fight COVID served getting rid of Trump it would be done. If it didn’t, and if doing something stupid or foolish served that purpose, then the stupid or foolish thing would be done instead.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Fauci was cut loose by those in power. Maybe he was a convenient fall guy or maybe they just got sick of him. But before we conclude that is the truth we ought to consider that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases isn’t the CIA or the FBI or the NSA and can’t appeal to national security to dismiss FOIA requests.
I was thinking that so much that’s incriminating is going to spill out and so soon, that everyone even remotely involved is squirming around like insects, when you kick over a rock.

It wasn't "nothing" in terms of the health impacts, but the government response was so objectively inept and irrational that I would elevate the whole fiasco to the level of a "hoax."
As I said all the way back in March of 2020 ... It was patently absurd to have the governor of New York ordering schools and businesses to shut down indefinitely for "health reasons" while the New York City subway system -- arguably the most likely place on the planet for any pathogen to be transmitted in public -- never stopped operating.
If the deep state hates China, why do they protect them at every point and cover for them? Why force a vaccine on all earthlings down to age 2? It seems more likely this hoax/pandemic was planned and implemented by Deep State/Rockefeller elites/Chicoms for some ulterior motive

From January 16-February 5, 2020 Donald Trump was on trial in the Senate, with all Democrats and a number of Republicans trying to remove him from office.
He certainly did not have a free hand to make policies that would have been the most useful, with stopping international travel to the US being useful option #1.
I saw my first patient from Wuhan on January 23. If Trump had closed teh airports, he would have been removed and President Pence would have re-opened them.

As I see it, one of the enduring legacies of this COVID fiasco is that medical/health professionals in general have been thoroughly discredited as a group -- and now have the same level of public respect and credibility as lawyers, arsonists and child molesters.
