F. Lee Bailey, the no-nonsense criminal defense attorney who helped win an acquittal in the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson as part of the former NFL star’s legal “Dream Team,” died Thursday in Georgia. He was 87.

His cause of death was not immediately revealed.

Superior Court Judge Kenneth J. Fishman, Bailey’s former partner, confirmed the news to The Boston Globe.

Simpson, who was found not guilty in the 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, posted condolences to his former lawyer Thursday on Twitter, calling Bailey “a great friend,” and “one of the great lawyers of our time.”

Worthless . . . Sam Shepard and O.J. Gave all lawyers a very bad name. Sick and tired of his grandstanding.

Citroens in general always remind me of a female dog squatting to pee.

They have great features though.

Years ago, sitting at a cafe in some town in France, I noticed a citroen parked across the street with a flat tire. After a short time, the owner came along. He got the spare out, sat the tire down and proceeded to replace the tire. Instead of jacking the car up, he reached under the car and pulled down a metal bar. He then got in the car and used hydraulics to raise the car so he could replace the tire.

What a cool feature I thought.

Probably cleverly structured his estate to escape the death taxes.

Under current law, he could have died with $11.5m without paying any estate taxes. $100k probably has a lot more to do with paying ex-wives, losing his ability to earn a living through disbarment and bad business decisions than estate planning.

I think being a lawyer means you can compartmentalize what you do....we all know simpson was guilty....so did his lawyer....

prosecution was inept...maybe they meant to be so.....but who appoints a white female attorney to a trial with a black defendent, a white female victim and then seating a mostly black jury....

however the evidence was there...motive,opportunity,circumstantial evidence.....the jury wouldn't convict one of their own....

Jackie (to Kramer and Stan): Damn fools! Look at that! We got nothin' now, nothin'! I've been practicing law for 25 years, you're listenin' to a caddy! This is a public humiliation! You can't let the defendant have control of the key piece of evidence. Plus, she's trying it on over a leotard, of course a bra's not gonna fit on over a leotard. A bra gotta fit right up a person's skin, like a glove!

Among the other things I remember about F. Lee Bailey, was his foray into the helicopter business, buying in Strom helicopters.

And telling a cop that it’s still a free country when the cop told him put out a cigarette. ( they made him pay dearly for daring to utter the words)

He was probably the only defense attorney in the country that could not get Patty Hurst a not guilty verdict.

One jurist said “ we just made a 200 year wrong right”. I never forgot that. Nor did that ever get replayed in TV.

Law partner? Or partner partner? Was Bailey gay?

The OJ jury had a median IQ of 50....which meant game, set and match for a guy who basically beheaded his wife.

Short of OJ taking the stand and offering a spontaneous confession (straight out of a Perry Mason episode), there was no way that jury was going to convict Simpson.
