Biden calls out moderate Democratic senators, urges 'action' President Biden this week took the rare step of calling out two Democratic moderates — Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) — in a sign of growing frustration over stalled legislative priorities.
Congressional aides say Democratic lawmakers have been reaching out to the White House in hopes that Biden would be more actively involved in efforts to convince Manchin, a key swing vote, to get behind the Democratic agenda.

I’m not sure about the President gig, the 2020 election would have been his shot, especially if the Demon party knew The Steal was on. Without argument he would have been a better placement than Bidet.
Manchin is chairman of the Senate Energy committee. That swings some considerable weight. Plus he’s on Finance as you said. Joe is swinging a pretty big bat as it is.

Agree! But like I said Manchin has his dream. I work with someone who was involved in Joey’s last campaign, he’s the one who told me about Joey’s WH dreams. It’s also been obvious to anyone who’s well plugged in to WV politics that Joey doesn’t want senator to be his terminal position.
I wonder if Manchin is under subtle GOP pressure to do a jumpin’ Jim Jeffords act in reverse: leave the rat party, become an independent and caucus with the GOP.
Of course, he’d last as long as Scalia did at remote western ranch. Unfortunate accidents happen to senior citizens.
They want BIG one this time, especially Manchin who had to put up with Harris badmouthing him in his back yard.
Well, considering that information it might make sense that TPTB may have leaned on Manchin to stay out of the 2020 race. Maybe promising him a shot in 2024 since they knew Bidet would be a one and done from the beginning.
I wonder if the power brokers were miffed at Bidet when he boxed the VP slot with his Person of Color comment. If Manchin was supposed to be the VP that took him out of play.

It all does make a little sense. Manchin has worked pretty hard keeping his “moderate” image intact. He might be the only candidate they can come up with who isn’t known to be bat crap crazy.
No, Joe Manchin is “moderate” when he can be. When he’s needed he is a reliable rat.
Another poster pointed out Manchin’s known, in WVA anyway, Presidential ambitions. Looking at that it would make sense for him to stay in the D party. Who else they have that hasn’t proven themselves crazy as an outhouse rat?

Nope, staying in the D party may put Manchin in the catbird seat for 2024. Especially since Heels up Harris is so unlikable.
