You simply cannot win at anything by playing defense all the time. DeSantis is right about the GOP but the party is what it is. All the pleading in the world isn’t going to change it.
The mindset and DNA of the GOP is one of weakness and appeasement. It is devoid of any guiding principles or convictions. A new party is a necessity IMO. I think deep down DeSantis and Trump know this.

And it is America’s PATRIOTS who will defeat all those noisy anti-American “tribes” of losers.
When “Conservatives” get tired of whining, they are welcome to join us Patriots and share the work of saving America.
Easy to say when you are the governor of Florida. Not so easy to do when you live in a blue state. Neither Ric Grenell nor Caitlyn Jenner stands a ghost of a chance of becoming governor of California because both men are tainted by association with Trump. As for Cox, he is a proven loser against Newsom. So I’m leaning towards Faulconer. Not the Trump-backed choice, although he did vote for Trump, but the safest choice in deep blue California.
Red state voters, however, should not have to make this compromise.
The entire purpose of the GOP since the Bush League Republicans took over has been to advance progressive policy, just a bit more slowly.
Assistant Democrats is all they will ever be.
We either replace them or start a new party.

If the Republicans are lucky enough to stumble back into gaining control of congress little, if anything of a fundamental nature, will change. They will still allow the Democrats to run the show like they always do.
The Republican establishment are the proverbial Beta-Cucks! So glad I left the Republican Party!
