The US Navy had a big fire on a ship a while back. It happens. But these days, everything has to be a conspiracy.
Everything.

The Kharg was a replenishment ship - it carried fuel, ammo, and dry stores for underway replenishment. It was built in 1977 and transferred to the Iranians in 1984.
Old ship, not a front line combatant. Probably didn’t have the best crew or officers and probably behind on maintenance. Had 400 cadets on board. Lots of potential issues there.

The nuke program is a threat to my country.
The Iranian blue water navy is a source of amusement. And a giant sucking black hole for money that would otherwise be a threat.

The Mossad has moved on from the little Beretta Model 71 22’ pistols of yore to something a tiny bit larger. a 22 foot pistol isn't big enough?

It would be a ship that would travel to Venezuela with the Iranian warships. Without a replenishment ship, the trip will probably need to be canceled.

It was an oiler. It’s the largest ship by tonnage, but it wasn’t a fighting ship.
