The Kharg was a replenishment ship - it carried fuel, ammo, and dry stores for underway replenishment. It was built in 1977 and transferred to the Iranians in 1984.

Old ship, not a front line combatant. Probably didn’t have the best crew or officers and probably behind on maintenance. Had 400 cadets on board. Lots of potential issues there.

It would be a ship that would travel to Venezuela with the Iranian warships. Without a replenishment ship, the trip will probably need to be canceled.

A crew of 400?

Maybe 16x that of an oil tanker?

Oarsman?
