Hu Xijin, the editor of the Chinese state-run newspaper the Global Times, considers enhancing China's nuclear program as being vital to the country's "strategic deterrence" against the United States.
China and the United States have been sparring over a range of issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Hu's op-ed came one day after Biden announced he instructed the Intelligence Community to "double down" on their efforts to identify the COVID-19 origin, including coming up with a list of questions that China has to answer.
The Intelligence Community hasn't ruled out the possibility that COVID-19 originated in a laboratory, a notion that China vehemently dismissed as being politically motivated and anti-science.

A population of a billion or 10 would be no match for an all-out nuclear war. Unless our enemy has the ability to stop our nuke missiles and bombs, very few would survive in China, Russia, the U.S. or anywhere else as a result of all-out nuclear war. Human civilization would end as we know it.
It wouldn’t take much to send China back to its feudal days and that’s what it has been for thousands of years before about 70 years ago. The commies are just holding it together temporarily.

Probably. Their would be underground shelters that have containment for thousands for decades. Governments have them. It would be a different world to say the least. It would take thousands of years, if ever, to reestablish any kind of meaningful society.

Actually I believe China says the virus originated from a biological lab at Fort Detrick in Maryland. And when it comes right down on who to believe, the Biden administration or the Chi Coms, I’m not sure.
