Many fatalists see America in decline and China ascendant. China’s dictator, Xi Jinping, agrees in public. But beneath the shiny new infrastructure, the amazing economic growth, and competitiveness, China faces a reckoning, just as it prepares to mark a century of its Communist Party.
We can thank President Trump for the belated recognition that China is the most important strategic threat to the United States. As little as two years ago, Joe Biden stupidly dismissed the idea that China was a threat:
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Wednesday night that China was “not competition” for the U.S., prompting blowback from prominent members of both political parties.
At an event in Iowa City, Biden was explaining why he believes concerns that China could eventually surpass the U.S. as a world superpower and economic force are overstated.
“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man,” the former vice president said.
“I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us,” he added.
Now, even Biden and the most establishmentarian of diplomatic commentators recognize that China is THE geopolitical threat to face this century. Fareed Zakaria in the Washington Post:
In a country that is divided on almost everything, one area of bipartisanship in the United States is alive and growing — fear of China. “The Chinese are eating our lunch,” says President Biden. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri says they “are well on their way” to achieving their goal of world “domination.” Experts warn that China’s Belt and Road Initiative and vaccine diplomacy are bolstering its soft power.
China’s stunning economic growth, post-Covid (18.% in the first quarter of 2021), on top of its advances in infrastructure building, 5G telecom dominance, and export prowess,

China-watcher Katsuji Nakazawa of Nikkei Asia just wrote:
The European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly to freeze the ratification process of an investment pact with China — a deal that Beijing six months ago considered a big strategic victory.
It has sent shock waves throughout China, with only one month and change before arguably the most important event in President Xi Jinping’s era, the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s establishment, on July 1.
Some party members are worried that the centenary’s festive mood will be dampened by the harsh diplomatic reality. Not only are China’s relations with the U.S. bad, but now EU relations are stuck in a ditch.
At this rate, not many Western leaders are likely to phone or telegraph congratulatory messages to Beijing for the party’s 100th birthday.
President Xi does not appear to have many cards to play.
If this article is accurate, we’ll know, unlike the USA where we can contest an election, regardless of the criticism from the left....In China if the leader is screwing up bad enough, the politburo can take you out in a second.....I think the USA could speed up that process, if we fully endorsed the MAGA agenda and brought back our industry from China and cratered their economy, it would cause social unrest in China and who knows what outcome would be......
And despite claims of success in taming the Coronavirus ( which the world is beginning to realize came from the WUHAN VIROLOGY LAB ), their self-congratulations are premature. See here:
The Chinese city of Guangzhou reported a spike in COVID-19 cases within its borders Sunday, causing mass flight cancelations at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China’s busiest airport.
The city reported 27 new cases, 7 of which were imported cases from travelers landing in Guangzhou. The city government imposed quarantine measures on the residents of five streets, ordering them not to leave their homes and closing nearby entertainment venues and markets...
Reuters is reporting the same thing:
The conceit of the Western press is shocking, whether leftist or right side. Xi doesn’t need dying Western leeches congratulating him. The whole point is that around 100 African, Central and SE Asian leaders WILL be congratulating him.
Sorry not following - we can contest an election in America and . . . be ignored and then have the side that committed the fraud write front-cover magazine articles about how they did it??
A powerful politician under duress often makes catostrophic, bad decisions. Xi has been in power for over a decade. Under Xi China has spent an enormous amount of capital developing its armed forces in every way imaginable. There are people within the CCP who are arguing that Xi must use it. They want Taiwan reunited with China and old scores settled with the Nationalists. Xi realizes that such overt militarism can end in disaster. The Taiwanese may actually put up a strong resistance and may repel a Chinese invasion. The CCP will be grievously damaged politically if the Chinese fail and take large casualties. Yet Xi may be a gambler and go for the glory. If he doesn’t he knows he will be eventually replaced in an unpleasant manner. If he succeeds he enters the pantheon of Chinese leaders. Biden won’t do much in any case. Stay tuned.
Except China NEEDS the West, specifically its technology, to fulfill the quest for global domination.
Unlike the would-be global empires of Germany and Japan from last century, China has the abundance of raw materials required, but lacks the know how to exploit them ...
So, President-for-Life Xi Jinping has troubles with restlessness in the ranks.
“Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown”
Somebody’s out to get you, sucker. And it isn’t Joe Stolen.
(ping?)
Translation: Don’t worry! The country that is crushing us has even worse administration.
Bullcrap.

History knows. Social unrest in China always ends badly and in blood, lots of blood. China has always been ruled by a strong man simply because there are too many factions with too much power, too well armed to create anything resembling a Western government.
Europe believes that China is responsible for Covid and it hit Europe hard.
Covert ops are a two way street and no one is invulnerable.
It ‘s doesn’t matter the Chinese have always been Sheep
Xi may be in trouble when we start to see turmoil in the upper echelons of the CCP. We saw many arrests for “corruption” when Xi was consolidating power and hamstringing the Shanghai and Youth League factions. At the moment it seems relatively muted.
China faces a reckoning on a number of fronts, and we shouldn’t ignore that the CCP has been using us as a cartoon bad guy to make their people ignore their own failures and the many wrongs they have inflicted on people. (Like starving them, breaking up families, forcing abortion on them, tearing down their homes, and all the indulgences of corrupt party officials).
I don’t honestly know where Xi is going with declaring war on Jack Ma, because Ma possesses skills that Xi never will, and its a big country, its a big world, and just like the world is turning against Xi’s style of diplomacy, China may well too get sick of their stalker in chief.
We have been fed crap like this for too long. Something’s got to give.
And I hope its the Three Gorges Dam.
Contesting an election may do no good, but at least we can do it...and it’s done with the media reporting on it, even if it’s totally biased....
I am not for one second that China will install a western style government, but it’s happened before where the head of the CCP falls out of favor and is replaced by someone else, usually the previous leader is never heard from again....
China is sowing chaos in the USA we can try to do the same thing.....
