A family from New Jersey learned the value of a legally armed population while vacationing in Florida. New Jersey is one of a handful of states where it is nearly impossible to obtain a permit to carry a gun for self-defense. From foxnews.com:
Eric Orgen said he, his wife, and his daughter, 16, had just left a synagogue in Bal Harbour and were walking on the sidewalk when a group of men driving by started shouting and throwing garbage at them.
“They just started screaming some derogatory things towards Jewish people out the window,” Orgen told WPEC-TV of West Palm Beach. “My first thought was just making sure my wife and daughter were behind me so I could take the brunt of anything that was going to happen.”
Orgen told the station the men said things like, “Free Palestine!,” “Die Jew!” “F– you Jew,” and “I’m gonna rape your wife.”
The family was helped by a driver who witnessed the attack and decided to intervene, Orgen said. Armed with a gun, the stranger defended the family and chased the group away.
“The guy in the car behind them saw everything go on,” Orgen told WPEC-TV. “I saw him pull a gun and get in between – I mean he was almost there as our guardian angel, just protecting us. I think once they saw him they just took off.”
The event is reported to have happened on 18 May, 2021, at 7 p.m. on Collins Avenue near Harbour Way in Bal Harbour, FL. The sun would not set until 7:44. It was partly cloudy, about 80 degrees F, with a strong breeze from the West at 17 mph. Visibility was good. The windows on the SUV were open.

Realistically? Maybe three. Hawaii, New Jersey, and Maryland.
In Hawaii and New Jersey, there are almost no carry permits issued.
In Maryland, if he was in Baltimore, it might happen. It is pretty hard to get a permit in Maryland, and the city government is insane.
Much depends on the local government. The vast majority of local governments are going to side with the armed Samaritan who stopped a "hate crime" against visiting Jews.

Sunday afternoon as I was about to enter my local LAFitness, one of these 20-something punks was sitting in his Mercedes, windows open, blasting their crap. I went over and asked him to keep his "bass crap" inside his car. He verbally & physically threatened me...and I responded.
This is a case of ‘Standing in the Gap’ Ezekiel 22:30. in this case the enemies were threatening and attacking these individuals who are the Jews a representation or a ‘type’ for israel. It’s not mentioned in the story but I would lay 10 bucks on the table that the armed civilian who stood between (lets just call it like it is) the democrats and the jewish state is a christian, an american. A beer drinking trump voting maga hat wearing christian. Maybe not a practicing christian but most certainly raised probably at least read some of the bible. It doesnt take much. So the way i see it, what you have here Christianity standing in the gap between the Evil and the Jewish state.
Now I know not everyone has a vision like that. It’s the story of a single man’s courage to stand up to the thugs that are running the country right now. The power of a single individual to ignite a wildfire should never be discounted.

The legal definition of what is brandishing, and what is a legal response to a credible threat, is significant.
Much depends on how the local prosecutor sees things.
Consider this case transported to New York, specifically, New York City.
Some orthodox Jews are walking in a very high dollar neighborhood. Some yutes start harrassing and threatening them. A man in a high dollar car, with a legal concealed carry permit, chases off the yutes, as described in the Miami case.
With Letitia James as AG, he may get prosecuted.
Previously, he would not be.
So, much depends on personalities in these cases. It is wrong, but the way the Left likes it.

Maybe so, but the vast majority of jurisdictions where you may have this type of encounter won’t have that kind of local government...so yep, the good guy can expect legal trouble in those places.
Certainly, there are a few.

Honolulu, Hawaii (somewhat cheating, because no permits to carry are issued in Hawaii) Baltimore, Maryland (both rabidly anti-Second Amendment and insanely "woke") St. Louis, Missouri (rabid anti-Second Amendment and insanely "woke" prosecutor) would almost certainly not be found guilty.
Places which seem plausible, but are in fact, unlikely: Minneapolis Chicago Atlanta San Francisco
I would say New York City, if not New York State, but who knows. it could happen most anywhere. And don’t count on being found not guilty unless you happen to be Black.
