TBS had ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ on last night. For those who haven’t seen it, one character thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt. He yells ‘Charge’ when he runs upstairs in to his room, is working on the Panama Canal in the basement (actually digging graves) and expects to addressed as and treated as if he is Col. Roosevelt. The neighbors and even the police figure he’s harmless and goes along.
But, his aunts realize that when they die, Teddy will have to go to a sanatarium. Everyone knows Teddy is crazy. No one claims he is sane or normal, and certainly no one actually thinks he really is Teddy Roosevelt. This movie was made 3/4ths of a century ago.
I’m really surprised the film is allowed to be shown. After all, if a man can become a woman just because he thinks is one, why can’t a man be Teddy Roosevelt if he thinks he is?
So, if you put lipstick on a pig it magically becomes a cow? No wonder I didn’t do so well in biology!

According to a study I just read from the NIH, 0.4% of adults in the U.S. identify as “transgender”. I guess if you include people who are all-gendered, and those who are no-gendered, and those who don’t know what their gender is, and various other combinations, that might kick the percentage up a few more tenths.
I don’t know about you, but for me that is a significant-enough number of people for us completely uproot institutions and practices so they can be accommodated. /s
