The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved a Celebrity Cruises ship to set sail with passengers, marking the first official CDC-approved for-profit cruise since the crackdown on the cruise industry in the United States. However, there is one major caveat: all guests 16 and older must be fully vaccinated.
In a press release, Celebrity Cruises announced the Celebrity Edge as the “first cruise ship to sail from US waters in more than a year,” beginning June 26. Because the CDC determined the ship as meeting all health standards, it will depart from Port Everglades in Florida, led by Captain Kate McCue, described as “the first and still only American female Captain.

As if people needed more reasons not to take the cruise. I would have thought that watching ships get quarantined for weeks would have dissuaded everyone from wanting to put themselves in that situation ever again.

I'd laugh heartily if all the people, and crew on that ship ended up getting salmonella poisoning, or a parasite on that cruise.
Now all they need to worry about is all the other communicable diseases they can catch on a ship, and then of course... Food poisoning.

So they have broad authority to advise and withhold funding, but really have no direct authority. Should we be thoughtful of about the agency after the recent experience with Covid?

So the CDC has no power to regulate international Cruise Lines. It can suggest good practices, but not command business to comply with anything. The exception might be where funding could be withdrawn.
Like everything else concerning Covid19 “authorities”. They are operating without legal authority to command.

Companies such as Celebrity Cruises and agencies such as the CDC that attempt to force experimental treatments on people need to be exposed, charged, and dissolved if necessary. Their behavior is no different than korporations who committed atrocities in Nazi Germany.
