This was bound to happen. I’m sort of shocked it didn’t happen sooner, but here we are with the triggered left-wingers tossing around lawsuits like candy because they found something offensive. That thing was a phrase Donald Trump used to describe the coronavirus. It’s accurate. It’s not offensive, but that’s not the point. This is about the Left’s unhealthy and unhinged obsession with the former president. Even when he’s gone, he’s facing criminal investigations into his business dealings, but this one deals with two words: China virus. Yes, Trump is being sued because he said that (via the Hill):
Former President Trump has been sued by a civil rights group for calling COVID-19 the “China virus” last year.
The federal complaint by the Chinese Americans Civil Rights Coalition (CARC) alleges that Trump’s use of that phrase and similar terms harmed the Chinese American community.
[…]
Trump’s “extreme and outrageous conduct was carried out throughout the pandemic with reckless disregard of whether such conduct would cause Chinese Americans to suffer emotional distress,” the suit states.
Yeah, this should be dismissed. I think it will; what’s the case here. That the president used his First Amendment rights to call something what it really is? The virus came from Wuhan, China. It looks like it was leaked from a lab, a theory now being taken seriously that was dismissed as crazy talk by scores of media outlets when first mentioned last year. This is a China virus. Just like how there are UK and Indian variants. It’s not racist. It’s not offensive. It’s the truth.
And I haved repeated called it the Chinese Wuhan Coronavirus (COVID-19). Does that make me a co-defendant?
The Leftist cancer continues it’s quest to become terminal for this Republic.
I was almost fired after calling it the China virus at work. This right after our president called it that.
First amendment precludes anyone getting sued for calling it the China, Waho, French, or any other name. Heck, he could call it the ni**er virus. It probably would tick a lot of people off, but you can’t be sued for that.
There is new evidence to show that China locked down all domestic traffic internally by end January 2020 but pushed to open foreign travel till end March.
Data from Tom Tom traffic index, a traffic location site that covers 416 cities across 57 countries show that as a result of this strategy, China, intentionally or otherwise, was able to lockdown its cities unknown to the world.
While this reduced the spread of the Corona virus within China, China’s aggressive foreign travel policy lead to a virus explosion worldwide. ...”

Article: The World Health Organization Bows to China

===================================================
Former Vice President Joe Biden now says he supports travel bans to contain the Chinese coronavirus after all – after he previously called the China travel ban issued by President Donald Trump in late January “xenophobia.”
Deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield told CNN on April 3 that Biden “supports travel bans that are guided by medical experts, advocated by public health officials and backed by a full strategy,” adding, “Science supported this ban, therefore he did too.”
Was that before or after looking at a poll that said Trump would do a better job dealing with this crisis than Biden?
Asking for the potentially hundreds of thousands of American lives President Trump saved by acting decisively in the early days of this pandemic at a time Biden was hysterically complaining about “reactionary” travel restrictions.
And why wasn’t Biden the first one explaining his new position on this issue? Why tell us now? And why pretend he was in favor of it all along when he never supported it at the time? Why not just admit he was wrong?
Biden not only didn’t support the ban, he explicitly opposed it, repeatedly saying it was unscientific, even though it turns out it ultimately was backed up by the science. Which, you don’t need a medical degree to understand. It’s just common sense.
Travel restrictions are just another form of social distancing from those traveling from the hotspot at the time, which was China, to prevent the American people from coming into contact with others who had been exposed to the virus, just as not going to work if you’re sick might.

“Biden has said China isn’t a threat and has downplayed their ongoing campaigns to undermine the U.S. geopolitically, militarily and economically.
“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man,” Biden said during an Iowa campaign stop last summer. “I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us.” “The fact of the matter is we can do all we need to do without punishing anybody,” he continued.
Biden’s position on China is dangerous and not based in reality. For years the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been sending Chinese students to America’s top doctorate programs in order to gain access to university research labs. There, they steal intellectual property from the highest levels of U.S. science.
Now, we know China’s dangerous handling of viruses in its own labs has led to one of the most devastating and fastest economic destructions in global history.”

I'm sure it will.
Hey...Stupid! If it walks like a duck, it quacks like a duck...
Kung-Flu, anyone?
RE: Kung-Flu, anyone?
I’m just curious, did Trump ever use that term anywhere?
No. He used the correct identifying term. The China flu. Location, location.
That’s why I call it “The Kung Flu”.
David Carradine is dead so he can’t be offended.
This lawsuit will be thrown out. I only wish that they will spend millions of dollars in lawyer fees for this lawsuit.
This is so asinine that I don’t even know what to say. The obvious is that a virus is commonly given a name from its origin. What are we going to do with our legal system that is broken and abused let alone the culture?
Is this the first time Mr. Trump was sued or threatened by something that had no basis in fact? Those pursuing these things should be faced with the total cost of it when it finally amounts to nothing. And I don’t mean pushing it off on the taxpayers, but it should be personally assessed against the person or persons who have tried unsuccessfully to bring an issue against Mr. Trump or others that later proves to be false. The neat part about something like this is that the longer it is pursued the greater is the cost to be borne against the plaintiff. I was thinking that some nations already have a law to this effect. Hope I have stated this correctly as I am no lawyer.
RE: This is so asinine that I don’t even know what to say
Here’s the reasoning - there has been a spate of racist anti-Asian attacks lately - a lot against Asians of Chinese ancestry.
Many people are influenced by what Trump said... the USA is suffering because of the virus that came from China. Trump called it the China Virus, therefore Trump, being President, added fuel to the fire which triggered the spate of anti-Asian attacks.
RE: He used the correct identifying term. The China flu. Location, location.
The Epoch Times actually calls it ( to this day ) , the CCP virus.
I prefer Xi Jinping Chinese Communist Party Virus. But yours works too.
From what I've seen, looks like most of those anti-Asian attacks were perpetrated by black people.
“This lawsuit will be thrown out.”
With the state of the courts these days I wouldn’t bet on it. Remember, most of the judges seem to be as eaten up with TDS as the most rabid university liberal SJW.
Remember the judge that just wouldn’t let the Flynn case go?
