It is looking more like the decline in first shots has ended, and the pace has recovered somewhat. As soon as the J&J pause was announced, first shots per day began to decline. From two million per day, they quickly dropped into the range of 500-650K per day.
That decline seems to have ended, and rates for first shots are now running about 1-1.2 million per day.

67.6% of Marylanders 18 or older have received at least their first shot. It’s CREEPING toward 70% (the figure when Maryland’s Governor wii release ALL mask requirements and other restrictions. He should have done it long ago IMHO but 70% is better than no “end point”.
Definitely, vaccination is now the biggest factor in growing immunity.
On today’s report, about 1.2 million first shots, vs. about 27,000 new cases.
Of course, there are also some undiagnosed new infections - but still dwarfed by the vaccination numbers.
It seems that our excess vaccine production is now going overseas, while inventories in the USA are easily topped off every weekday, maintaining an inventory buffer of around 72 million doses on hand.
Mass vaccination sites continue to close, while mobile immunization pop-ups are becoming more common, as are the availability of walk-up (no appointment) vaccinations. Teens 12-16 are a newly eligible group, that accounts for part of the recent rise in firs shot rates.
Over 85% of seniors (65+) now have at least a first shot, over 61% of adults.
Herd immunity is baked into the cake - we are in the final descent of case numbers now, IMHO.

Sounds like around two weeks for Maryland to hit that 70% threshold.
Neighboring Virginia will drop restrictions this coming Friday (28 May) - at the start of the Memorial Day weekend.
I’d guess D.C. will be in the ball park with their neighbors as well.
